Greetings,

Another early morning shave...

The Muhle R89 / Gillette W.S. Saloon pack was a superb duo..I could easily shave with the R89 forever, but like everyone else i like variety...It's always been a special de razor along with it's German made distant relation the Merkur 34C both razors helped me to develop my shaving confidence & technique when i first stepped into the wonderful world of traditional wet shaving. Both of these german made de razors, fitted with either aggressive or non-aggressive blades have always delivered a smooth comfortable irritation- free acceptable shave..What more can i ask for....

A very comfortable 3 pass + pick ups near bbs shave with no errors to report.

Finishing the shave off with a generous dollop of The Real Shaving Co ~ Post Shave Soothing Balm.

My face is feeling super smooth and smelling devine.;)
;)

Enjoy your day, ladies & gentlemen.

Shaving with one of the these " Oldies" is a treat , as they Shave much better than you may think. They are quite heavy compared with modern Injectors, which encourages the use of a No Pressure/ Use the Weight Technique. Initial clearance is best done with short strokes, after that the Razor settles down and becomes quite smooth.
The Shave today went very well, as I was able to vary the cutting angle to do the polishing up needed to get a close Shave. I reckon that quality of Shave finish that I get with both the B/C Repeaters is probably better than those I get with more modern Injectors - using a single blade.

Today I tested the BIC blade with the R89 head. It resulted in a very efficient and smooth shave, I think it couldn't get any better, given the semi-mild razor head. I have some other top blades to test (Voskhod, Personna Red Israeli/Med Prep/Viking's Sword, 7 O'Clock black, Astra SS, Sputnik, Rapira, etc.), but this one I will for sure check out again after the testing phase, as it performs with all my razors outstanding (R41, R89, Slim Adj.).

The Cold River Kauai sample with the SELECT base is top-notch in every field. Slickness, cushion and post-shave feeling is 1A. Though the scent is floral, it isn't that dowdy. Further scent notes are according to the producer hyacinthe, musk, sandlewood, mimosa and cyclamen.

Soap - Vitos Red
Brush - Omega 80265
Razor - Souplex Bakelite
Blade - Lord Classic SS
Post - Witch Hazel/Cooling Balm
AS - Superdrug Forest Fresh

The blade was possibly a bit too mild for the razor, but the shave was a pretty good one. I'm coming to the end of my 50g sample of Vitos Red, which might be my favourite of the 3 variants of Vitos, but do I like it enough to buy a 1kg brick of it? Possibly...
