SOTD : Saturday 23th - Friday 29 th March 2019

Back on the vintage Gillette trail with a focus on the Aristocrats. Today's Gillette of choice was the venerable Aristocrat Junior, made in England and of a 1949-52 vintage. This razor would have been from either a No 51 or 53 set but as I didn't get a case or box with it, I can't say for sure. This one has a flat bottom and comes with a heft to it. Shaves incredibly well.

Soap of the day was Stirling Tuscany with the matching AS and what a wonderful scent. Just smells like late spring in...well...Tuscany. LOL. Great performance as usual.

Loaded up with an Astra Superior Stainless and worked through a wonderful three pass BBS shave. All around great start to another anticipated long week. Happy shaves all!

42258Muhle R41 with a Shark blade on its second use. Razorock 400 synthetic brush. Nanny's Silly Soap Down Home Summer. Fine Accoutrements Fresh Vetiver splash. That's a Little Wren lathering bowl too.

Not a bad shave! This is my first time using the Razorock 400 and this particular Nanny's soap. The soap took some whipping up but made a lovely thick lather with a bright white sheen like meringue! Smells lovely, long lasting lavender and vetiver. Went WTG and XTG and got a decent result. Chucked the blade after. I prefer a sharper blade in the R41.

Rinsed and splashed on some Thayer's. Fresh Vetiver splash compliments the soap quite well.

YaqI Tuxedo
La Toja
Timeless .68
Silver Blue (1)
Brut Original ASL

First use of the Timeless, and it shaves very well.
Having only used one or two open comb razors I was a little intrepid but it was very smooth.
I've developed a nasty cold over the weekend so didn't enjoy my shave as much as I would have liked to. I'll give it a few days to clear before I shave again.

Great to hear the razor is delivering and not so that you have a cold.

I always thought as an OC the Timeless doesn't shave like one.

Had other things on my mind tonight when I should've been concentrating on the razor in my hand.

3 passes went too quickly with a few weepers appearing on my chin, especially underneath it.

They mostly cleared up towards the end of my post routine, but a couple need the styptic pencil called into action. Nothing major. Just a pain in the a**e!

Still a DFS at the end but I should've enjoyed it more.

The RazoRock XXX soap has a pleasant scent. Quite calming considering it's name. It'll find a spot in my rotation.

Have a great night folks! [emoji1303]

OSP Neroli
RazoRock Plissoft 24mm synth
Face lather
Parker 24C
Astra SP (1)
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
4711 EdC

I'd forgotten what an efficient bugger the 24C is. The lightest of touches brought, quite literally, a BBS result. 3 passes; no buffing. Again, ‘riding the cap' helped with slicing through the whiskers.

OSP does great soaps, and the 4711 Neroli notes harmonised with this one beautifully.
