To finish off the Blackland week i decided to give the Dart Another run out, am i mad?
Anyway, the soap used was the Vitos Extra Super which was kindly gifted by Arthur @Electrif when i adopted his Rocnel SE a while back (i will have to dig it out, its not seen soap or chin for a while) Thanks Arthur.
The soap works really well and i decided on a face lather with the Jayaruh #355, a bit more control of lather slickness for today's job.
The Plan was, 2 passes as per yesterdays shave, no ATG.
The WTG & XTG passes went without issue and as the brush had plenty of lather i completed some minor touch up of the stubborn area around the chin - Success. No nicks or cuts.
The angle i used was quite shallow and i managed to maintain it at a constant.
Some minor indications from the block that did not last too long. A nice Barts Balm massage and then a splash of 4711 giving a little sting.
Very happy BBS shaver. feeling and smelling good.
I have enjoyed this week with the Blacklands, the SE versions are a much easier Razor for me to use giving fantastic results every time.
The Blackbird i am very happy with although i think the OC base plate may have only been issued to survivalist's and real mountain men in case they have to shave a Grizzly Bear they are friends with! ;)
The Dart behaved himself today and the shave was very involving, which i like.
Today i feel like the Kwisatz Haderach
Enjoy your day All

@Tony'schin Hi, I found a steep angle worked well with the Dart; much smoother and comfortable. As ever YMMV

Rooney 1/3 Ivory Finest (26/55)
Penhaligon's English Fern shaving soap (tallow)
Paradigm Titanium II
Gillette Platinum 'Swede' (3)
Houbigant Fougère Royale aftershave (vintage)

Another excellent shave. My initial impression is that the overall shave quality of the 17-4 and that of the Titanium II are quite close, with the 17-4 having just a very slight edge, probably due to its greater weight adding to the stroke smoothness. The lighter Titanium II seems to be a bit more comfortable for me because I have a mild tremor in my dominant, razor-holding hand. I'll use the 17-4 again tomorrow with vintage Floris Santal cream.

Prep: Bath
Pre: Proraso red
Soap: MWF
Brush: Moka Express 2 band badger
Razor/Blade: Feather ASD2/Feather (3)
Post: Alum and cold water splash
ASL: Proraso green
Smooth 3 pass evening shave. The Moka Express was new out the box and apart from soaking in water whilst I bathed it had no preparation. I was very impressed with its lathering ability on its first outing. It has good backbone and was easy to hold, however it did pong a bit!

Honestly Chris, I have tried everything with this one. He just seems to want to rule the roost with me. I am more confident with a straight?
I do love the look of him though so he gets to stay. I suppose that as I change razors a lot he is not getting my attention. I have many "Wild" razors that I can pick up a go. No worries.
The Dart seems to be my lifetime challenge, pair it with a Polsilver and I am in deep trouble. He is a handsome boy though.
8 hrs later and I am still real smooth from 2 full passes.
My shave angle with him is laterally a razor blades thickness between heaven and hell.
That's what you get when you are still shaving bumfluff at 57. This fella needs stair-rods.

Soap PAA Solstice
Brush Yaqi 26mm Moka Express
Razor Gillette Tech
Blade Gillette Wilkinson Sword 2nd use
Post & Aftershave
Omega Alum + Thayers Lemon
Clubman Whisky Woods
Face lather. Slowly add water and turns out to be a blooming creamy thick and slick lather.
Shave with razor and blade pairing was good. Not overly sharp but smooth. Good 3+1 pass of wtg, xtg/atg, atg and pickup atg. BBS 80% above jawline but below was just DFS. Rating 9/10 no weepers nor irritations.

For my final shave of this SOTD week I give you my themed shave 'Scribble'

IMG_20200228_083812.jpg

My granddaughter aged two was in the house the other day drawing away and I asked 'Oh that is nice what are you drawing?' She replied 'Don't be silly granddad I can' t draw I am only a baby. I'm scribbling'. So I dedicate my shave to her.

Zuzu's granddad's razor - Ikon SB in proprietary black
Zuzu's granddad's blade - Polsilver Lodz
Zuzu's granddad's brush - Razorock 400
Zuzu's granddad's soap - James Riley No.8

God bless the little people

Not the best of shaves but not because of the accruttements as they were all damn fine but more down to being tired at work, rushing, bad lighting in my cabin bathroom and piss poor excuses. A kind of scribbled shave. Influences and sympathy I think.

One nick and a few weepers but it is what I would expect from the Ikon with a new out of the packet blade. Being tired, rushing bad lighting etc etc etc. Did I mention piss poor excuses?

Still the razor was great, the soap brilliant and the brush very brushy. @James Riley has done a nice job with this 'aren't I a lucky bugger?' soap which is going to be my soap of the week through to Thursday.

So tomorrow we have the job of being the standby tug on the Navy's finest which rolled in to Liverpool this afternoon. HMS Prince of Wales.

IMG_20200228_152253.jpg

And more than likely another below par shave so I'll probably give it a miss.

Smoother than a sheet of sandpaper and smelling divine on diesel fumes.

Have a great weekend you most wonderful forum folks and keep on scribbling your way through it all. My granddaughter knows it makes sense even if I don't.

I leave you with some more beavers
