SOTD 26/8/20

Razor- TSR Gillette Fatboy
Blade- Feather (2)
Bush- Omega Synth
Soap- Proraso Green
Post- Thayers Cucumber

3 pass shave leaving a great finish. The Fatboy is still holidaying in Northern Ireland and loves it here, although he says the weather is.....well I'll not repeat it, but he's right . I've enjoyed using the razor all the same.

This shave just about finishes my first ever purchase when starting to wet shave. The tube of Proraso. I'll get another one to replace it as a reminder of where it all started.

Have a good night one and all.

Please don't start, I'm too old for that bloody shit. I blame Covid19 for keeping me busy reading, otherwise, hurry up with the bloody vaccine before we ALL go crazy.
I felt bad after finishing all 21 'Ben Hope' action thrillers by Scott Mariani (shite nonsense but great summer dumb reading):( and then I discovered the Agent Pendergast books by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child and all is well with the world again...there no so dumb but still great page-turners:). But then I had that shave yesterday with the 7'o'clock and I temporarily lost faith:(...and then came todays SOTD that restoreth my faith:).
What a topsy turvey lockdown government u-turn world we live in:oops::rolleyes:.

Prep - facial scrub
razor - Schick I1
blade - Schick twin vintage (3)
soap - Proraso green
brush - Semogue mixed badger and boar LE
post - witch hazel
a/s - Floid Mentally Vigorous
balm - Floid.

The very first soap I bought myself - sure - it isn't the absolute best at anything - it doesn't contain unicorn tallow or Peruvian spider's silk extract - but at the price it doesn't have to. It works just fine. Have a good week - I.
It is almost the absolute best at everything and, for the price, it is the best at everything IMHO.;)

Farewell Shave

Prep:
Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rooney 1/3 Super Silvertip Badger
Cream: Santa Maria Novella
Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Swede (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Proraso Green Splash
Scent: Musgo Real Classic

On Friday evening, I lost my dearest friend, after a ten year battle with cancer. I was privileged to be holding his hand as he slipped away. We were inseparable since schoolboys.
He was a passionate wet shaver, but too shy to do much posting.

His Wife asked me if I could shave him on his final day; a great honour that I gladly accepted. Unfortunately, his birth razor was at his home. He had a two week growth, so I needed some blade gap.
The Futur was one of his favourite razors, so I packed it up with a selection of gear and headed to the hospital, where I shaved him, and stayed with him until the end.

Tonight, I reproduce the shave, as a tribute to my dear friend.

Rest easy, my Brother.
A truly handsome selection for a final shave. Your tribute shows not only a deep respect for your friend but also towards this forum where you chose to share it. Thank you @TomG

A relaxing early evening shave...

Software: Glyce Lime soap pre-wash / Le Pere Lucien Cologne Fougere soap / Le Pere Lucien Cologne Fougere AS / True Religion Drifter EDT

Hardware: Yaqi Heavy Metal Tuxedo synthetic / EJDE89 + Gillette Nacet on Timeless Titanium

DSC_1041.JPG

After 3 shaves with this brush it's definitely maintaining the Yaqi quality and feel I've come to expect. Since I've shifted to synthetics, I've not been disappointed with any of the brushes I've bought (Yaqi and Phoenix AA).
A shift back to the Nacet from the disappointing 7'o'clock also paid dividends.

Have a good evening all:)
