Farewell Shave

Prep:
Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rooney 1/3 Super Silvertip Badger
Cream: Santa Maria Novella
Razor: Merkur Futur
Blade: Vintage NOS Gillette Swede (1)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Proraso Green Splash
Scent: Musgo Real Classic

On Friday evening, I lost my dearest friend, after a ten year battle with cancer. I was privileged to be holding his hand as he slipped away. We were inseparable since schoolboys.
He was a passionate wet shaver, but too shy to do much posting.

His Wife asked me if I could shave him on his final day; a great honour that I gladly accepted. Unfortunately, his birth razor was at his home. He had a two week growth, so I needed some blade gap.
The Futur was one of his favourite razors, so I packed it up with a selection of gear and headed to the hospital, where I shaved him, and stayed with him until the end.

Tonight, I reproduce the shave, as a tribute to my dear friend.

Rest easy, my Brother.

I am so sorry to hear of your sad loss and your dedication to a good friend right through to the end. I wish you and your friend's family the best you can during these days.

Soap RazoRock Blue BarberShop
Brush DS Cosmetics 26mm Badger
Razor QShave Adjustable
Blade Wizamet Iridium Super 8th
Post & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers Mix
Hyaluronic + Gatsby Splash
Face lathering with the soap/croap and brush felt very good. Soft brush with just enough scritches. Handle feels so good in hand. Nice creamy and slick lather results.
Razor has been long ignored so paired with a good blade and set at max 6 for 1st wtg, set 5 for xtg and atg. 3+1 passes...all went so well...felt smooth, sharp but safe and comfortable. Made a mistake during last pass by unconsciously pressing abit hard on jawline area and felt the blade bite! 2 weepers result. Icy cold water rinse followed by Thayers then Hyaluronic and Gatsby splash. A very good enjoyable shave except for a momentary lapse.

Razor- Rockwell 6c (4+2)
Blade- Shark
Bush- Yaqi Sagrada Familia
Cream- TOBS Grapefruit
Post- Barts Grapefruit and Pink Pepper balm

3 passes tonight for a, I have to be honest, very average finish. First and last time using the Shark blade. It just wasn't for me and thats ok, have to try these things to find out.

The shave experience was brilliant, the finish just wasn't very good.

New Yaqi brush...wow. Out of the box earlier I didnt think the knot felt particularly good. Once wet and introduced to cream it was amazing and felt great on my face. I can see why yaqi are a firm favourite in here and I can see me getting some more of these especially given their price.

TOBS great as always and Barts balm rounded off an all Grapefruit theme.

Have a good night one and all.
+1 on the Sagrada Familia and the TOBS(y)

Also, it sounds like I had a very similar shaving experience yesterday with a Gillette 7'o'clock. The shave was absolutely fine (in my usual EJDE89) using Lea classic cream, but the face-feel afterwards and for the next hour or so was weird...neither smooth nor bristly. Almost like I'd had an overly close shave that didn't feel close. As a result I won't be using 7'o'clocks again.
I was so disappointed that I didn't even post a SOTD.:(

As bad as a bad shave feels...when you manage to follow it up with an exceptionally good one, everything seems right in the world again :)

Brush - Zenith B07 (24mm/55mm bleached boar)
Soap - Tabac Stick
Razor - Fat Handle Tech
Blade - Gillette Nacet (7)
Post - Witch Hazel/Alum
Splash - Barbon

I think I've finally broken in my Zenith B07 so it no longer eats lather but I can't seem to get it to stop shedding, might have lost around 10 bristles in today's shave and even though it created a nice lather today, I can't see myself buying another bleached Zenith boar in the future.

Have a good day gents.
