SOTD : Saturday 20th - Friday 26th July

Because I am useless and last night was the first real night off from work in the past five and half weeks I had every good intention of actually going the way of an SOTD on time. All that went to rat shit when the garden, Mrs SF, a bottle of wine (or two), followed by my favourite tipple of Cognac appeared mysteriously on the menu and hence took control of matters and took me down uncontrollable roads. I think if I'd have managed to rattle out an SOTD it would have been very undecipherable and beyond Alan Turing and his team. Much like half of the rubbish I write.

So here it is yesterday's SOTD which I started in good faith before ending faithless

And on this rather hot day my selected theme was 'Ice Ice Baby'

Hot days? There is only one way to go and I am surprised I have never played with this one before. I have shaved wet, warm and dry, but this was a first time out for me, a cold water shave. Just the cooling affect of the water alone was a sheer pleasure but what surprised me was how damn smooth and beautiful the actual shave went. This was shaving heaven. I never quite expected such results and hey you can teach an old dog new tricks.

It was also a first out for the newly purchased Extro Arzachena after being highly recommended by @AnthH and by golly he was right. The scent is awesome and the aftershave just let it all linger even further. Not only that it lathers beautifully and just everything you need in a soap is delivered in a wonderful manner. It reminds me of how I might have smelt if I'd just walked out of an Italian barber shop on a hot summers day in the 1920's. Or possibly out of a Liverpool shower room in the 2019's. Lurving it.

The brush? The same as always, brilliant. Saturday will be an acid test of just how good it really is when my first dip in to the world of silly brushes hopefully appears on the doorstep in the way of a Cadman. I really cannot wait for this one and my expectations are high. I also have a very nice 'loan' item on the books for Friday's SOTD which I should deliver by, say, next Wednesday. Oh, and an R41 so I can skin myself alive in a very soon to be SOTD. Band aid, styptic pencil and toilet roll ready and standing by.

Altogether one wonderfully cooling shave and as smooth as ice.

Have a great weekend to the shaving nation here on TSR and don't drink too much. I will

Just in case you think I might round this SOTD with 'Cold as ice' by Foreigner or even Vanilla Ice's dreadful hit 'Ice Ice Baby', well bugger that and a song totally non-ice associated song from those lovely Japanese ladies Band Maid

On the road and wanted an easy and mild shave. The Gillette A'crat Jr from a #58 set is the exact ticket. What an excellent shaver and quite the looker. This particular one is a near mint cased example. Love the red leatherette case it comes in and knurling pattern makes it unique. Loaded up with a Gillette Wilkinson Sword it is just fantastic.

Sumer time = Summer scent and the Italian Barber Amici is a wonderful bright citrus scent. Great soap and quite affordable. AP Shave Co. Silk Smoke with the blue lagoon handle is just about the softest feeling synth I own but it has just the right amount of backbone to it. Great brush!

Lathered up and got through just about one of the best three pass BBS shaves I have had in a long, long time. Stars were in alignment this morning for sure.

The weekend! Finally! Enjoy the sun, the family and friends and the shaves!
