SOTD.: Saturday 1th February - Fryday 7th February 2020

Miracles do happen. An SOTD which actually took place on the same day. And in this case it took the theme 'Let's twist again'

Chubby Checker - 1959 Fat Boy
The double twist - Gillette 7 O'Clock
Twist and Shout - Razorock 400
Twistin' the night away - James Riley No.8
Twist it up - Lubin Itasca

And then I came across a song from the 80's, The twist yo twist by the very appropriate... Fat Boys (dreadful version of the classic song but you can't have everything)

Not only a new to me (and four others) soap but a new to me Gillette Fat boy very kindly passed on to me as part of the pass around.

The razor is a new experience as I have never shaved with a genuine vintage razor and my virgin day with a twist to open. I was always a bit sceptical about TTO's as never quite sure how firmly they would hold a blade but that was soon dispelled. Give it that little bit extra and hey presto and everything nicely held in place. It is also a long time since I last used an adjustable, my last outing being a Futur which as I have said before is a terrible piece of kit to me.

The Fat Boy is a completely different animal. I have to say the lower settings are far too mild and not sure what settings 1 and 2 are actually achieving, but crank it up to 5 and above and things start to come to life. Wowser this is one babe of a razor. I find it difficult to believe it some sixty years old. My wife thinks the same about me. With the matching Gillette blade a real peach of a performer. It makes me vow to stop staring in admiration at my own slim and use it. Next week

Once again the new James' Riley No. 8 soap turned in a sterling performance. The 400 making short work of lathering duties. I have to admit the Razorock is actually a better brush with these softer soaps and creams whereas the Cadman works far better with hard soaps. May be I am starting to understand brushes after all. A brush for all occassions.

I think the photo speaks exactly how good the brush and the soap have worked as a double act. Super soapy performance.

Lubin Itasca? A top drawer class scent.

So yet another great shave and very happy, in fact very very fucking happy. So smooth three pretty ladies have just picked me up and promised me to twist the night away. Super

Did someone mention Japanese metal? It just has to be the brilliant Blood Stain Child (even if I am the only one on the planet who really rates this band)

5 Euros? Where do you live? Most folk where I live wouldn't know what a Euro is. On a second thought they go shopping with no money so probably don't know what pounds are either

soap: Lea stick in tin from Ikea
brush: Omega pig in DIY handle
razor: Klas Törnblom in DIY scales

My set up for this week, will stick with Lea until finished so looking at maybe another four weeks, good soap the old tallow version

edit: Oops! wrong week, will move this to its proper place

Probably my fault for waffling past the 'sell by' date
