Arko Gold Aftershave Cologne

Wow a great shave. I picked up the Arko products in Turkey and they are great. The Arko Gold is amazing, strong scent that lasts a while providing a great post shave feel. The cream is top notch too.

I did buy the Arko cool cream, but I am not too keen on that. The texture is weird, a bit stringy and hard to get going on the face when lathering.

SOTD 05 September 2018 :)

Pre-shave: Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap and cold water splash.
Cream: Musgo Real Lavender.
Brush: Simpsons The Duke 2 Pure Badger.
Bowl: Aesop.
Razor: FaTip Piccolo.
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (Day 4).
Post: Musgo Real No.4. Lavender Cologne.

Another fab 2 pass shave, no issues to report with a BBS finish. When you find the sweet spot with the Piccolo it does not dissapoint, as ever I appreciate that YMMV.

A cheeky photograph of the Karve which arrived today with C and E plates, SWMBO received the package :)

From Monday;
MÜHLE Rocca - Nacet
Nivea Sensitive Gel

I'm not proud of myself, but I needed an über-quick shave so grabbed a little Nivea Sensitive foaming gel and slapped it on. Foam dissipated and I was left with a slightly sticky, slightly slick layer. I am, however, impressed with this razor and blade combination. It mowed down a few days' growth without issue or irritation, even if there was next-to-no protection.

Next time it'll be done properly, I swear! :D

Great photogaph; great razor :)

I had an interesting first shave with the Rex.

I found settings of 2 and 2.5 to be somewhat harsh on my face, and it certainly felt as though it was tugging at my 2 day old stubble.

I dialled it down to 1.5 for my second pass and things improved significantly. It started to feel much smoother.

I rarely do a third pass and decided to try this at 1. Everything slotted together very nicely on this pass. It felt like a Timeless in terms of smoothness and the drag whilst present was not unpleasant (it felt a bit like an oxidised Blackbird in this respect).

The head shave wasn't as good an experience, though.

I started off on 3 and quickly dialled it down to 2. It felt rougher than I would have liked but did give me a very close head shave. The drag was present again and was strangely disconcerting (as I've never had a razor drag so much on my head). The handle was also a tad too small for my liking so I doubt that I'll head shave with this razor again.

All in all, I reckon this is a keeper as the shave at the 1 and 1.5 settings were up there with the best razors I've ever used in terms of smoothness and efficiency. Therefore, it gets a definite thumbs up from me. [emoji106]

SV Manna di Sicilia - one of my all time favorite fragrances with great thick leather as well

AP Shave Silk Smoke 24mm knot - maybe the best all round synthetic brush for me - good size, soft to very soft on the tips with enough backbone to tackle very well solid soaps

Rockwell #5 with Astra green - plenty of blade feel with good BBS. Maybe some scratching on the neck though, I still need to adjust it more

SV Dolomiti - elegant smell, not my favorite as it's neither elegant enough, nor fresh enough, but still an interesting mix to go into rotation
