SOTD : Saturday 18th July - Friday 24th July 2020

The shaves all this week have been " Tried and tested".
Used the trusty and intuitive Gillette Slim adjustable 1962 on settings 7,5 and 4 for 3 passes with the excellent Gillette Rubie blade.
Used all the soaps pictured with the trusty Yaqi Sagrada Familia and post shave was Skin Bracer and L'Oréal Hydra Sensitive Birch Sap.
All 4 shaves were excellent, great lathers, smooth and close shaves as expected.
So the theme got me thinking into trying untried and untested blades and razors - just for something a little different over the next few weeks.
Stay safe people and enjoy your shaves.

There wasn't a great deal to remove today following yesterday's awesome shave but a single pass with the efficient Marvel has left me presentable for the day. The BB and Hibernia are a very good match for each other.

Another training shave today,
A face lather straight from the Sample tub with the little Simpson Commodore, this little brush seems to pick up and hold the soap easily, I really like the Leodis floral scent, it is the soap that moved me to try more of @BrianH 's Signature soaps and also other manufacturers floral descriptions.
I had a lovely slick covering in no time at all.
1st pass WTG using the Vintage PLS Str8, using both hands completing the full pass, still a bit awkward over the chin to neck area & LH side but i managed OK, after a rinse off and check i was pretty smooth.
I Lathered up again - easily enough for 3 passes in this little fella and used the Valet VB3 fitted with a Feather FHS-10, this would be its 4th outing, i completed a XTG/ATG mix, buffing the stubborn areas as i went. This blade is done now.
A final rinse and check left me with a DFS+ result which i am happy with, i have decided not to chase BBS while going through these training shaves, they are to try to get my muscle memory clicking into place with the Straight razor.
A nice post shave routine leaving me feeling quite chuffed with myself, smelling good and setting me up for the day ahead.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All.

Glad you like Leodis, I like to think Rose Geranium blended with appropriate balancing essential oils produces a Floral Blend that is not over “perfumed”

Following on from my previous SOTD theme of " Tried and Tested", above is my theme of "Seldom tried and Untested".
The razors are Gillette Ball end Tech - only used it twice and from memory I wasn't overly impressed. My least enjoyable of the 3 razors.
Star Model 100 was left impressed after 2 shaves. Felt smoother and closer shave than the Tech. Finally my 1976 Gillette Super Speed flare tip. Used twice, gave nice, smooth and mild shave. Had an instant connection with this razor.
Of the blades, recently used and liked the Shark SS, Supermax Blue Diamond i used a while ago and from memory it was a reliable performer. Never got on with the Gillette O'clock blades - shaved with this 3 times and was OK at best. Dorco Titan performed well in my FrankenStar razor in work. Lord Platinum I've used once before and mowed stubble pretty efficiently. The Lancet was a last second Wildcard entry due to me spotting it in someone's SOTD (Palmolive Fox may be responsible).
Looking forward to seeing how these shaves and combinations go and really just want to get to know the razors a bit better.
Stay safe people.

Fri 24 SOTD
Soap Ariana & Evans SoCal Hipster Sample 1st Use
Bowl Ceramic
Brush Yaqi 26mm Orange Black Hair Synthetic
Razor Gillette British Rocket HD
Blade BiC Chrome Platinum 2nd
Post & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers Mix
Hyaluronic + PAA Cavendish
Another A&A sample soap. Just a pea size and with the brush and bowl, produces a nice thick, creamy and reasonable slickness lather. Good scent too. Can't really recognize it but pleasant.
Too much lather even for 4passes so with the leftovers...keep & see for tomorrow.
Shave with this mild razor paired with blade was very nice. Sharpish, smooth and very comfortable. 3+1 multiple passes with between bbs to dfs result. Due to a nice comfortable razor, made mistake by trying new angle on neck trouble area and suffer a weeper, just to get a closer shave, dang.
Icy cold water rinse followed by chilling Thayers then Hyaluronic and finish off with Cavendish...smell grand. 9/10
