SOTD : Saturday 18th July - Friday 24th July 2020

18/7/20

Prep- hot shower
Soap- Kaizen
Razor- Gillette Fatboy (9)
Blade- Feather (2)
Brush- Simpson t3
Post- Cold water rinse/ Nivea balm
A/S- Epsilon blue

2 days growth today and first time using the Kaizen. Very impressed with the soap. 10 second swirl on the puck produced enough lather for 5 passes. One of the slickest soaps I've ever had. Fatboy set to 9 for all 3 passes and touch ups and it just gets better every time I use it. Feather blade seems a good choice in the razor. Near perfect shave and 2 days worth of stubble removed in no time.

Oumo 24mm Motherlode - Signature Soaps Britania - Vanta/Treet Classic(Carbon) - Pinaud Lilac Vegetal

A post night duty shave. The combination of being half asleep and a small overactive dog resulted in a tiny nick on my upper lip.Apart from that it was a very good finish.
My first time using the Britania soap and as usual with Signature Soaps.....the performance was spot on . I was unsure when ordering as I am not a great fan of Aniseed....but once the 'minty goodness' kicked in ....it was actually nice! It will grow on me over time.

Pre - Shower / Face wash
Soap - TOBS Sandalwood
Brush - Trad Shave Co. Badger
Razor - Merkur 34G
Blade - Wilkinson (3)
Post - Alum followed by some moisturiser with SPF

This mornings shave did not start well. I'd just loaded my brush, put it on the side it the sink to wipe down the soap bowl, only to watch the brush fall into the sink of water. Reloaded and managed an nice two pass plus third as pickup pass shave. Happy and smooth in the end.

A bit of a late post today as i have been a busy boy, all housework done, washing machine loaded, last lot ironed, dryer loaded. Mrs TC up and ready then onto making us some Brunch. Put away ironed clothes. Had 5 mins and a cuppa then thought about my shave.

The start of a Vintage week with the shaves supported by a run of the newly acquired and brilliant Sig Soaps from @BrianH.
Up today was the Gold Tone Valet VC1 sporting a 9-shave Despined Personna Gem and the Sig Soap Coria.
I had a wonderfully slick lather in no time with the scent very present although not overpowering, i am getting more into the "Floral" scents lately and really enjoy them.
The VC1, i find, is very mild and forgiving, so much so i completed 3 passes and then a buffing pass on the more stubborn areas around the chin and devils whirlpools on the neck.
Result a very comfortable face feel with a DFS+ result, a tiny bit roughness to the touch only on my chin.
The Post shave feel after a rinse off is very nice. These soaps are up there for me and look forward to a different flavour for each day this week.
Finishing with a nice post shave and i am one happy bunny.

Right then, Dogs out for a walk, get my hair dressing cloak on to sort Mrs TC Hair colouring, and start to think about making tea.
Hopefully she will be up and about in a few weeks! i am brayed out.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All.

My second outing with The Wabbit V1, and like yesterday I had to concentrate on getting a light touch and not rushing. Though not overly aggressive it is very efficient and Shaves very smoothly, providing you keep the top cap flat to the face. A lapse by me at the end rewarded me with a slight weeper on the chin. Again the overall quality of finish was excellent, and I am happy to continue using it as a Daily Shaver. Not many Razors using an Injector blade deliver Shaves as good as this - Think E2 or N3 the Supply that I use does not get a look in.

First shave using the razor above, one which I bought for less than 50p in India over a year ago put it away and forgot about it. Curiousity got the better of me, so I decided to give it a go today.
It's a nice bright colour, weighs a few grams at the most. It feels like a toy if I'm honest, and shaving with a razor that's not much heavier than the blade is a very strange experience, I was very aware of not applying the slightest bit of pressure with the razor and I was expecting it to be on the mild side of things but it was more more efficient than I expected. Difficult to describe but it wasn't a smooth shaver, but I did manage to get somewhat acceptable results from the 2.5 pass shave but there was no way I was going to do more than a 1 pass above/below my lips with this razor though!

I might give it another go if I am feeling brave.

Have a good weekend gents.

Carbon Damascus Athena
Wilkinson London Bridge (1)
Ginger's Garden Rose Petals aftershave

The brush probably has the softest tips of any of my brushes and is a favorite. This was my first use of the Carbon razor, and despite its somewhat coarse texture it was wonderful, smoother than either the regular Carbon-CX or the titanium model, rivalling even the Paradigm 17-4. Perhaps it just really likes the London Bridge blade. It will be interesting to try it with other blades.

A 1912 razor and a 1914 brush...
  • Pre-shave Ach Brito Glyce soap wash
  • Mitchell's Wool Fat shaving soap ('The Fat')
  • English Pewter Company 1914 Silver Tip Badger
  • Gem '1912' (I think it's a 1919) + Gem blade
  • Figaro Monsieur AS
  • Nivea FMS balm
DSC_0884.JPG

I have three '1912' type razors - this one, an Ever Ready, and a Gem Featherweight (not really 1912).
The shaves are always close and I really like the 'olde' traditional idea of them. It just seems appropriate to use an equally traditional shaving soap, like 'The Fat', and an old fashioned barbershop style aftershave. Figaro Monsieur was just the thing!

Two passes, no touching up necessary...half an hour after the shave and the face-feel is great. :giggle:

Good evening to all(y)

Glad you enjoyed it. Rose Geranium and Geranium blended with compatible essential oils subtly balances the florals. Regards Brian
