A better shave with the Progress today following some good advice from forum members. There wasn't much to shave off but I'm presentable for taking the wife to lunch on Dartmoor (in a pub, not a cold picnic!).

First shave with rhe Hawk. And considering that I struggled at first with finding the right angle, not to mention having screwed up the lather (too watery), it was a relatively smooth and very efficient two-pass BBS shave.

SOTD 01/24/20

Up very early this morning after my infusion yesterday, so why not have a relaxing shave. I decided to break with tradition; so I broke out the Grooming Dept's Donkey Milk Unscented (instead of my usual MWF) which has always worked well for me. After salting it with 6 drops of M-Bomb to bring it to the Cryogen level, the soap was ready!

Yesterday I received my new H&S No75 polished SS razor. The razor was designed with a .75 blade gap with neutral blade exposure. Friends on a number of different dedicated razor forums had posted very positive reviews of its incredible efficiency and smoothness. Deep in the throes of RAD, I succumbed and ordered my own. A fair bit of time passed after my order with only the infamous ‘label created' message showing in my USPS app. So after a week of this, I emailed the company which resulted in my order being dropped off immediately. The company's in MD, so it only took two days to get to Philly.

The handle is longer than I'm used to at 3.74” and the entire razor weighs in at 126 grams. It's hefty, but very well-balanced in the hand. I loaded it with a Feather blade and proceeded to have at it. The soap whipped up into a glistening, yogurty, cooling lather complemented by my Cube Preshave soap. It didn't take long to find the sweet spot, and to echo others that have used the razor previously, must say that the shave was very smooth and efficient. What I discovered was that the longer handle enhanced the dome shave, particularly in the center of the back of my head, one of my regular trouble spots. The face shave was effortless leaving me with an easy two pass DFS all around. There were still some healing areas from my encounter with my defective Rex Ambassador, so I decided to happily settle for the DFS. I really enjoyed this shave, and am looking forward to continuing to shave with it over the course of the next few days. I feel clean, smoooth, cool and refreshed! Now off to make the coffee for SWMBO.

Awesome imagery, as usual, Jim! I have a Hawk v2, as well. I shave with several AC razors, and really prefer the Schick Proline. I get many more shaves off the Proline than I do the Feather. I also find it smoother than the Feather, although the first shave can be a bit rough if you don't cork the blade. I'd be glad to send you a fresh one to try in your new Hawk. PM me if you're interested.

Omega 11137 boar
L`Occitane Cade cream
Occams- Enoch
Feather Proguard [ 3 ]
Grey Flannel A/S lotion

I am not regretting purchase of this Razor, which is getting better and better for me. Perhaps a bit mild for those who want a quick morning Shave, but ideal for me who does not like to rush. I find it great for going ATG and clearing up around the neck, and today the finish attained was bit of a Face Stroker.

Just about perfect although the blade did go off about halfway through the shave and although still sharp it lost its smoothness, it managed the rest of the shave OK and is now residing in the blade bank.
I have a DFS+ Finish, i am feeling and smelling good.
Enjoy your day All

Thursday 23rd January

Pre ~ Hot bath / Wright's Coal Tar Soap
Soap ~ Signature Soaps Coria (Sample)
Brush ~ YaqI Chianti 24mm Synthetic
Bowl ~ 3D Printed Bowl
Razor ~ Rockwell 6C R4
Blade ~ Gillette Platinum (2)
Post ~ Superdrug Forest Fresh ASL

A relaxing bath and shave to unwind from work
The bathroom filled with the aroma of Wright's Coal Tar Soap, I pressed a small amount of Signature Coria soap into the bottom of my 3D bowl and it lathered up a treat. This very generous sample pot must have another 20 shaves worth of soap remaining - a very small amount makes more than enough lather for three passes.
The 6C/GP pairing made short work of two days whiskers, with no errors to report
Finished with Forest Fresh ASL - good value aftershave for very little money IMO
I wonder if such a thing as Coal Tar Shaving Soap Exists

Happy Friday all! Just a simply good shave on tap for today with the inclusion of Musgo Real Lavender SC, Dr Jon's Flowers in the Dark and the iKon Standard (Tech).

Lovely two pass shave and smooth as can be. The iKon Standard or Tech really only has one purpose...to annihilate three or four days growth. It melts away stubble better than my Muhle R41 and that is saying a lot.

Happy Friday all!

Rating: 5 / 5
