SOTD : Saturday 17 th to Friday 23 th August

Fri 23rd Aug.

Omega 11126 boar
Cyril Salter Solid soap
PAL Injectomatic
Schick Proline [ 7 ]
Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion.

From the off it was obvious that the blade in this Razor was past its best, and the quality of the finished Shave was below par. The Star today was what appears to be a scrubby little thing - the little Omega boar. When lathered up. application of that lather felt as if being tickled with a feather.
Actually softer than some of the synthetics I use. Seems that these inexpensive boars are not in fashion , but if confined to use of one brush I would not be unhappy if it were this one.

A wonderful shave this morning. A really good lather from the Semogue and TFS, followed by a swift and efficient two pass shave from the Progress, a really comfortable razor for me.

Soap: Declaration Grooming Harmony

Brush: Stirling Soap Company 26mm synthetic

Razor: Gillette 1970 Super Adjustable "Black Beauty" P3 with Nacet blade

Fragrance: Dark Rebel by John Varvatos

Nose: Indy the Whippet

Like riding a chopper through an Indian market in New Delhi: Leather, sweet woods, burned sugar and all the incenses of the world! Great performance from the soap and most important - Whippet approved!

I pivoted from my usual routine slightly and in the last couple of weeks I use unscented balms with not identical but somehow complementary fragrances on top that last much longer than aftershave splashes, so far soooo good!

Soap: OSP Neroli
Razor: Schick L1 1965-80

Post shave: Alum Block, cold water splash, homemade Bay Rum #2 splash / Witch Hazel

A/S: OSP Neroli / Copycat Just Neroli

L1, Chub,OSP Neroli (1).jpg

Neroli Friday
The Simpson whipped up the OSP soap into a massive bowlful of beautiful scented slick lather, the Simpson Synth is also a great face painter.
A very nice shave again with the L1, technique definitely improved. Again, 3, no pressure, gentle passes leaving me BBS without issue and very comfortable. This blade just keeps going, no indication that it is going to give up soon.
Finishing the shave with a splash of my homemade Bay Rum #2 Splash/witch hazel, a dollop of Bart's balm and face rub with the Bart's lotion, a nice splash of the OSP Neroli, finishing with a few squirts of the Copycat Just Neroli, basically I cannot get any more Neroli on (I am thinking of making a batch of Neroli witch hazel for my next Neroli outing).
so BBS, soft & supple, smelling my best and ready for a few early jars with the lads.
I am resting the L1 next week as the Blacklands, are calling they have been like Greek Sirens since about Wednesday.
Have a great night and weekend all, starter for a week off for me.

Gillette Platinum 'Swede' (1)
Penhaligon's Castile aftershave (vintage)

Castile is one of my favorite fragrances, and the old cream is wonderful. The razor is quite heavy, but it certainly is efficient.

Soap: Tabula Rasa Steampunk
Razor: Wolfman WR1
Blade: NOS Gillette Nacet (3)
Post: Thursday Plantation Tea Tree & Witch Hazel, Musgo Real Aftershave Balm

Third shave with the Nacet blade. BBS, but it would seem it is a little too aggressive for my skin.
The normal superb post shave from the Tabula Rasa soap.

Sadly the TOBS Royal Forest has some ingredients that didn't suit my skin. I swapped it with a chap on ATG for some P&B Denali which arrived today - just in time for the warm week ahead.

I wish I had tried P&B soaps sooner. The lather was fantastic and the cooling sensation lovely. Picked up a couple of small nicks on my jaw line where the Feather bit me due to chasing smoothness but nothing the ASL couldn't sort.
