SOTD : Saturday 16th May - Friday 22th May 2020

22 May 2020 – lunchtime :) .

1 days' growth …. no issues shave – the R89 helps, being a “benign” razor. Used the Astra blade for the first time – TBH can't really tell if there's a difference to the BIC blades I have been using regularly. Erasmic soap lathers very well – nothing special, an everyday budget soap.

Prep: Aldi Bath Soap & Nuage Shave Oil
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow 26mm
Razor: MÜHLE R89
Blade: Astra Superior Platinum (1)
Soap: Erasmic Soap
After: Cold Water Splash - Ajanta Alum - Autograph ASB

Friday Mixup.

Brush: Jefferson the Fae B9B
Razor: Gillette Aristocrat Jr.
Blade: Gillette Platinum (4)
Lather: B&M Adagio
Post Shave: Summer Break Soaps Field Day
Frag: Armaf CDNIM

Sunny, warm day here so I'm going with some citrus grass mixup. I enjoy the sweet grass smell from Field day and figured out I would mix it up with the lime-forward scent of Adagio. CDNIM is pretty much an Aventus dupe, which I'm not always keen on but I'm feeling the fresh, light scent these days.

Sotd - Friday the 22nd of May

Prep - facial scrub
razor - Gillette Slim (3)
blade - Nacet (crocodylus niloticus - 1)
brush - Simpsons Chubby 2 - best
soap - Meissner Tremonia - Black Beer No.1
post - witch hazel
a/s - Myrsol - Agua Balsamica
balm - Nivea Sensitive
scent - Sauvage edp.

Result? Astonishing - a new benchmark - in terms of closeness and comfort - the shaving gods were smiling on me today - were it not for the fact that I could hear the Slim cutting my two day beard - I would have sworn that I had forgotten to put a new blade in. Really. I say again - astonishing. I hope all yours are just as good - cheers - I.

That's an impressive bloom on your Chubby!*

The star of the show today was @BrianH Eboracum, although i do enjoy a minty shave the Eboracum takes it that step further with the addition of Cedarwood and that makes it for me as i feel it reduces the "sweetness" of the scent. So much so i have made my own take on it with an Argan Oil lotion.
I had copious amounts of wonderful lather to protect my chin during the shave, a little goes far and the resulting lather is very very good.
3 passes for a BBS finish today.
A nice post shave leaving me feeling very refreshed.
Stay Safe and Enjoy your day All
Thank you

Rooney 2/1 Faux Horn Finest (22/52)
Penhaligon's English Fern shaving soap (tallow)
Paradigm 17-4
Wilkinson Chromium 'Light Brigade' (4)
Houbigant Fougère Royale aftershave (vintage)

Wonderful. I really like the variety of items in my monthly rotation, but in terms of overall experience plus final result, I can't imagine a better shave than today's.

Good evening all.

My little effort this evening consisted of:

Pre- Proraso Red
Cream- Ingrams (Egyptian)
Brush- Omega Bristle
Razor- Rockwell 6S (R3)
Blade- Astra SP (6)
Post- Myrsol Emulsion
Splash- Floïd Mentally Vigorous

Cracking shave this evening, very impressed with Ingrams Cream. Easy to lather and gives a nice tingle to the skin when applied.
The Astra SP blade was on its 6th outing and performed brilliantly,
I tried the R1 plate last night for the first time with 24 hours growth and it achieved absolutely nothing. The sink was bare. I think I'll stick to the R3 unless I leave shaving for more than a couple of days.

I hope you all have a great weekend, stay safe.

The weekend is upon us and not a minute too soon! Today I decided to visit with The Beast! The Muhle R41 was my second ever DE and I love it for what it is...a destroyer of stubble! I have taken to using it with an iKon 80mm bulldog handle as opposed to its stock handle which gives me great grip and better balance. Loaded up with a fresh Super-Max.

Today's soap is from the CBL soaps line of fine products, Fresh Vetiver. I have several CBL soaps but hadn't tried this one yet. Exceptional lather and a fine scent are staple of CBL and this one is no different! Excellent soap and of course I love Vetiver!

A wonderful three pass shave and even the dolphins would cry at this BBS punim! Topped it off with some Fine Fresh Vetiver AS and Bvlgari Man! Oh yes Friday you are my second favourite “f” word but I love you more today!

Take care, safe travels if you can travel and stay safe!

I swapped out the #2 plate for the #3 and was rewarded with a very smooth close shave, obviously my technique has improved and the Supply now delivers a shave on par with the Vintage injectors i have.
A nice face lather today with the Alpha Ti G4 working very well.
A nice post shave leaving me soft supple BBS and smelling real good.
Stay safe and enjoy your day All

That is one gorgeous looking brush. I've had my eye on that brush a few times, haven't pulled the trigger yet.
I was wondering how the knot in it, compares to a Tuxedo knot?
