Soap - B&M Reserve Lavender - slick lather that was whipped up nicely by above brush. Great scent too.
Razor - Gillette Tech - smooth and mild shave. Paired well with blade.
Blade - Super Shave X #3 - bit apprehensive after last shave but felt smooth and sharp in the Tech.
Post - L'Oréal Hydra Sensitive Birch Sap- reliable performer. Love the scent.

Greetings,

A near Turkish themed shave.

The Derby Usta has performed wonderfully throughout the week, showing no signs of dulling. I could have used the Usta blade for another shave or possible more but i have retired it on a high note...Besides that, i still have a boat load of other DE blades to contend with.
Throughout the week all the razors i have used have been kindly gifted & passed on to me by friends & workmates throughout the years... Finishing off my shaving week off with the Baili BD 191 which i originally bought to build a introduction starter kit for a workmate who was curious to try out traditional wet shaving, but like alot of people he expected too much too soon and reverted back to using disposable/cartridge razors again....So he returned the Baili BD 191 razor to me along with other shaving items thanking me, saying it wasn't for him...Each to their own choice.
My only minor criticism with the Baili BD191 is the handle is slippery when wet, but i rub my fingertips with a alum block which give a better grip when shaving with it.
Like the Baili BD177 Rose Gold TTO & Kanzy K100 razors, the Baili BD 191 has a "closed head design" which gives extra protection and no risk of catching my ear lobes or under my nose with the blade ends when shaving, which i like very much about all three razors.
The long hefty teardrop handle makes the razor 'top heavy' which for my personal preference is a bonus for me as the weight of the razor does all the work with no pressure needed to be added when shaving...A good razor apart from the slippery handle.
All of my shaves this week with the Chinese clone type razors have performed well with good shaving results...Especially the Baili ~ BD177 Rose Gold TTO every shave i have had with this razor has been smooth & acceptable...It just goes to show you can get socially acceptable shaves with inexpensive shaving equipment, with good technique & shaving confidence.A comfortable 3 pass + pick ups near BBS shave with no errors to report.

Finishing to the shave off with a small dollop of Wilko ~ Lemon & Black Pepper Body Butter.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine. ;)

Keep safe, and enjoy your day ladies & gentlemen.

I thought it about time I started posting in SOTD - especially after promising my thoughts on the Mogno soap. No guarantee of regular pictures of the artistic quality seen from others on here, but it's nice to participate!
While I'm still in the early stages of trying out different manufacturers and their blades, I find myself slipping back to the SF289 for a first run with any newbie. It's the razor I'm most familiar with, and the feel of it gives me the confidence to try any blade before I put it through one of the vintage Gillettes or the Lord. As I've posted previously, I do like Russian blades, and this Rapira was no exception.

What is there to say about the Mogno? It's bath-soap sized, rectangular and comes in a cardboard box. @Paul L 's description of "pleasantly masculine" is apt -it's very pleasant and it is as basic as it comes.
I've tried it out both in an Arko "rub it on the face" way, and a lather off the puck method. I've come to the conclusion I'm not a bowl fan, and the Yaqi worked perfectly for both methods I used. This is without doubt one of the nicest face-feels I've had from a lather (albeit in my limited experience) and the ease with which this lathered up was incredible. Smooth as anything, great post-shave feel - incredible.
Without wishing to exaggerate or resort to hyperbole (oh, who am I kidding ;)), if it were not for the fact that we are all Design Divas and Scent Whores, the Mogno should be the best-selling soap out there. A soap that does the job this well, smells this good and costs under a fiver? No-brainer. It's now firmly in my rotation.
However, because of the points previously made, I will also continue with my Stirling Hipster, Mastro Miche, Patchouli scented Wool Fat etc. because while the Mogno does the job more than adequately, there's something deliciously decadent about that first inhalation when you unscrew the lid or unwrap the paper of a new acquisition. Hell, I'll even return to my Arko from time to time for the same reason - the scent will take me straight back to my first DE shave.
So, there you have it. Mogno? Buy it. Future SOTD entries will be a little shorter - promise :giggle:
