And very nice it was too.
The Polsilver Lodz still working well, i will try it in another razor to see how long it lasts.

Enjoy your Sunday All.

Lovely Sunday shave using my new ATT SE1 for only the second time.

FD79CF79-869C-4188-B268-1EE3005994A6.jpeg

prep included 45 minutes on indoor bike, then hot bath and Kiehl's facial soap.
Three days growth so used the SE1 but took it very slowly resulting in a very smooth close shave.
So close I barely needed a second pass.
Helped by lots of creamy lather from Signature Coria. Brian has managed to make rose smell masculine and fresh.
Cheers all, Paul

And the theme for this particular shave was '7, 8, 9'

IMG_20200216_015608.jpg

No.7 - Gillette 7 O'Clock blade
No.8 - @James Riley soap
No.9 - Gillette Fat Boy from the pass around set on No.9
No.30 - Cadman 30mm Tuxedo

So I thought I'd start this shave with a small video clip of some nice girls dancing on a beach wearing real swimwear. As against to thongs which are a little like receiving a birthday present with the corner ripped away so you already know the contents.

In between those SOTD's I managed to annoy you all with this past week I have in the main been using the pass around Fat Boy. A cracking little razor delivering perfection with consumate ease and minimal effort. The 7 O'Clock being a perfect match.

As perfect as it is I still don't see the advantage of an adjustable. Most of my shaves have seen me crank it up to 9 and leave it there. I can't see any reason why I'd want to change the setting. There must be some great advantage in it, but I just fail to understand. And to some extent may be I don't want to understand and may be I am a one size fits all man.

No.9 it was and No.9 it remained. Despite being a bit of a protagonist to adjustable I will say this No.9 setting is quite aggressive and I find it ticks all my boxes. What it does achieve is to deliver wonderfully smooth shaves with a real sense of security. The end results are absolutely stonking and has one stroking ones face just to check this is for real.

On an end note as to the razor, the mechanics and build quality are first class and for a razor pushing over 60 years it is so lovely to use something which was obviously made to last and has proved a point.

@James Riley . What a man at cooking up one brilliant soap/cream after another. This No.8 is no different. Even though I found out the Razorock 400 makes for less effort the Cadman doesn't shy away from whipping up one beautiful and lasting lather. Thick, Creamy and just a peach to use. It lasts the whole shave and some. The scent I am quite sure is quite close to the Alvarez Gomez Magnolia Blanca and just happens to be what I look for in a fragrance. I am not really in to the heavy masculine scents and more light, slightly sweet and flowery.

As a soap up there with the best and played its part in what was one most delightful shave with a delightfully smooth finish. Only these pretty ladies showing the full benefits of movement due to not having bits of string wedged between their butts are smoother

Have a great week ahead everyone.

Very fitting towards my theme I leave you with these pretty little Japanese babes who you are possibly a little more familiar with

SOTD 02/16/20

My MWF focus this month continues with one of my less well-behaved razors, my MMOC. This razor never fails to deliver an excellent close shave, but also requires attention to its use. If that attention wanders Madame Micromatic will bite!

In this case, I chose to forgo my usual PAA Preshave Cube prep and simply stuck to my cold water rinse before lathering up for my first WTG pass! I used careful short strokes and avoided long sweeping ones, as those never failed to incite a bite in the past.

The Pella PTFE Gem Blade swept through the whiskers like Sherman through Georgia! The result was a bloodless first pass that totally cleaned up the dome and left very slight roughness around the Adam's Apple, which has proven problematic with this razor in the past.

I relathered that area as well as the back of my head and did some ATG buffing. When I finished there was no heat at my throat and minimal stinging at the back of my head, but again, no blood! BBS with minor heat. So onward and upward!

I just received back my repaired Rex Ambassador! The last time I used that razor, it wreaked havoc. I was unable to shave the dome for almost three days! So (that's) on the docket For tomorrow. Today I feel clean, smooth and refreshed!

RAZOR: Gem MMOC
BLADE: Pella PTFE Gem
PREP: Cold water rinse
BRUSH: Viking Silvertip Badger
SOAP: Mitchell's Wool Fat
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and PAA Mentholated Mysterium Serum

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Antica Barbieria Colla Almond Oil Pre-Shave Cream
Brush: DR Harris H3 Best Badger
Soap: Phoenix & Beau Night Witch
Razor: Gillette Slim (4)
Blade: NOS Gillette Bleue Extra (2)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Barrister's Reserve Spice A/S Splash
Scent: L'Artisan Parfumeur Fou d'Absinthe

First outing with one of P&B's newer soaps - Night Witch. I've just finished watching Season 2 of Britannia, so the choice of soap seemed most appropriate.
The scent is a deep, dark take of vintage Shulton Old Spice, with a base of typical P&B earthiness. Light-mid scent strength, and I found it terrific.
Also terrific was the lather - if I were to nominate which of my soaps was the easiest to lather, Phoenix & Beau would be very close to the top.
Three passes with the Slim on setting 4, allowing the very sharp vintage Gillette blade to do its work and render me BBS.
Barrister's Reserve Spice seemed a logical match, and indeed worked very nicely indeed. I reveled in postshave bliss for a hour or two before applying fragrance, and found that the dark yet sparkling fougère notes of Fou d'Absinthe proved another great match.
I love it when all the elements of a shave come together like this :D.

Pre-shave: Warm shower; Kiehl's face fuel.
Soap: Folk- Sandalwood & Vanilla.
Brush: Shavemac ' The Flat Top'.
Razor: Blackland Blackbird.
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (Day3).
Post: Fine Snakebite and Bioaroma Aftershave Balm.
EDC: Geo F Trumpher Sandalwood.

A lovely 2 pass shave, DFS+/BBS- no issues to report; I think I'm getting the technique down with the Blackbird, a reasonable shallow angle, riding just off the top of the cap.

The Folk shaving soap is lovely, used on holiday last year and on and off since then; the puck is quite small so I decided to use this like a soap stick - applying directly to my face before lathering witth a wet brush - worked well, very thick, protective lather.

Decided to finish off with the Trunpher Sandalwood - I normally only use that in the summer, however it matched the Folk soap a treat.

All the best,

Chris

Glad to hear you are mastering the Blackbird. A razor worth getting to know
