SOTD: Saturday 15th -Friday 21st June 2019.

Mike, hi - I am reasonably sure that I am on the no 2 plate - as I have not changed the head - will look again.

My first run outs with the Occam was with the Feather AC - which for me is possibly a better blade in the Occam compared with the Kai (Pink). I enjoy shaving with the Kai's, with my other SE razors (General SS, ATT SE1, General Alu) that is my go to blade. Using the Kai on this rotation was experimental.

I have ordered some Feather Pro Guards to try with the Occam. I can see me using Feather blades almost exclusively in the Occam.

Today's shave, also with the Occam and the Kai (Pink) was good, did not feel as smooth as with the Feather. Yesterday's shave felt weird, the razor was almost so good it felt functional, if that makes sense?

All the best,

Chris
Hi Chris,
If you have not changed the head it is on 2 [ marked by dots]. I understand what you mean by calling it functional, it does not have the kerb appeal of other Razors -" but it do Shave good":).
I shall try a Schick Proline next, before trying a No 3 plate. Ideally I do not want to get more AC Blades like the Pro Guard just to use Plate 3. I am finding that on 2 the Occams is clearing my quite heavy beard with ease. I would really like to hear
the views of any Vector/Paradigm users who have also tried the Occams,
Have a Good Weekend, we are promised some Sun:cool: . Mike B

Fri 21st June

The Grosvenor [ 404 ]- Mixed
Vitos Super Red
Occams SE -V2 / No 2 plate
Feather Pro [ 3 ]
Jaguar Prestige A/S Lotion

The is my Third Shave with the Occams, and aided by the remarkable Vitos by far the best- a " Face Stroker", and the first
two were pretty good. In fact the Shaves so far have been that good that I could almost forgive the Ransom Charges incurred.
This Razor may not have the kerb appeal of other AC/SE razors, but if you want a razor that works this takes some beating, and apart from Extra Charges was not that expensive - around £72 of which about 30% was for shipping. That was a very heavily discounted price that I got.

What's your verdict on the brush? I've just ordered one from ES out of curiosity.

Mike, hi; the Vector shaves real good; a different experience to the Occam, blade held well / no chatter, and classic design and feel if the razor.

Is the Vector better? In my view no; it's a different experience.

All the best,

Chris

All a bit behind the times here but last night my pleasurable shave was themed 'last night's pleasurable shave'

Guilty pleasure - Colonial General
Pain and pleasure - Kai Captain
Lady of pleasure - Razorock 400
At her majestys pleasure - OSP Chypre

A couple of days growth, 2 days on a ship and a bit of self pleasuring was always going to be on the books. Its a seaman thing. And yes, we do love a shave. We are not all salt encrusted bearded monsters who go around shouting 'Aye Aye and I'll have some of them shivering timbers type stuff while at it'. Indeed not. We leave that to the Brian Blessed wannabes as some of us are a little more complex than that.

So last night's pleasure started with a welcoming hot shower and that fine cream by OSP, Chypre. I have no idea what the sent is but that is what I love about OSP, their intrigue.......together with a super lather. Again starting to scrape the tub here and another reason to curse Jame's again when it is only fit for the 'Finished' thread.

The brush. Ah it is a brush and does a great brush act

On this ocassion back to the General and its fine ability to shift fluff in a smooth and efficient manner. Out of all the razors I own I must say this is the one I am most proud to have in the cabinet. Not the most agile of razors but beautiful to use.

The Kai Captain because it is the only SE blade I bother with. This one must have been used around 10+ times and still has life for another run out.

End result, one pleasurable and wonderfully smooth shave. Welcome to the pleasure dome as some Scouse band once sang.

Have great weekends all you forum folk and why not? I am just not in a Frankie mood

Friday

Arko
RazoRock Disrupter 22mm
Face lather
Feather Artist Club SS Kamisori
Feather Professional
Schick G8
Proline B
Alum
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
Proraso M&E after shave

A pretty crap shave tonight. Couldn't get it right with the Feather around the chin area (usually problematic for me, in terms of manoeuvre-ability); and was rewarded with a small nick. So the remainder of the shave was gently finished off with the G8; which resulted in a DFS, if not a chin stroker. Will leave the Feather to deal with a more substantial growth next time: that seems to work.

Tomorrow or Sunday is another day. That's the beauty of this: each shave is a new one...
