Friday 20th March
Yaqi Aluminium Tux - Glycerine Cologne soap - GEM Push Button - GEM SSC#5 - Brut A/S - Lacura Aloe Moisturiser

There doesn't seem to be many transparent glycerine based shaving soaps available, especially in the UK.
This one I found on eBay, from China. I'm sure I was enabled by a forum member. It has a fair cologne scent, lathers easily, is extremely slick and has good performance. It can be melted, (with care, in the microwave) so can be poured into a tub. Mine is an empty Erasmic tub.
I certainly wasn't disappointed with today's result.

Prep: Valobra Glycerlanolina soap, Myrsol Emulsion
Brush: Rooney 1/3 Super Silvertip Badger
Cream: TOBS Sandalwood
Razor: Merkur Mergress (2.5)
Blade: NOS Gillette Super Silver (4)
Post: Thayers Cucumber Witch Hazel; Pinaud Clubman Aftershave Splash

TOBS Sandalwood isn't the slickest, but is easy and fast to lather, provides servicable performance, and has a delightful scent. Refined, old school, but not dated.
Three passes for a DFS+ result, and a very nice postshave.
I was wondering if the tactic of putting Pinaud Clubman into a glass bottle to improve the scent was a load of bollocks. But..... I am impressed! I have some left over in the plastic, and doing the A-B comparison, I can clearly tell the difference. The glass version smells better.

Fri 20th March

Stirling Syn 26mm
Arko Stick- grated
Schick Golden 500
Schick -Chick [ 1 ]
Pitralon Original A/S Lotion

After a very poor Shave with The Golden 500, a Razor that normally performs very well. I put this down to blade failure and decided to use it again with a fresh blade. The Shave from this Razor was like sweeping a magic wand around the face to remove all growth with ease, and the overall finish was excellent and as I have come to expect from it.

Happy Friday all! Yes these are trying times for all of us so please stay safe and sound! Today's razor the ubiquitous Gillette New SC refinished by Chris Spencer at BackRoadsGold in Rhodium. Loaded up with a Feather.

In keeping with the run of CBL soaps I decided to reach for Carnation today. What a great scent! Just perfect for a rainy, early spring day. The flowers will bloom again!

Lovely two pass shave and smooth as can be. What a great start to the weekend. Again, stay safe and check in on your families and neighbours.

SOTD 20th March

Pre - Proraso white and Welsh Water
Brush - Omega S Brush
Soap - Wickhams Parma Violet
Razor - Parker 26r Open Comb
Blade - Gillette Winner #1
Post - Stirling Arkadia Balm

Well, theme for this shave was "Second chance" inspired by the tag video's on YouTube.
I decided to give the Parker another shot. I've never really got on with it, struggle to get a comfortable, smooth shave, no problem with getting a close shave though. I decided on the rest of the gear to give the Parker the best chance I could as everything else is proven to work for me.
3 passes completed - it was not an enjoyable shave. An exercise in concentration certainly. Even from the first pass I could tell it was gonna go the way it did. I slowed my technique, concentrated on a slightly more forgiving angle to my face but to no avail. I'm not sure if I've been spoiled recently by enjoying the best Shaves I've had and being dialled in to my 3 reliable favourites (Rockwell, Merkur Slant and even the temperamental Parker 65r).
So I think I'll give it yet another chance sometime this week.
