SOTD : Saturday 13th June - Friday 19th June 2020

Just had my first shave with the Parker 55sl and I have to say, I love this thing. Two passes and a little clean up gave me a very, very close shave…...and no nicks!! I've never felt so smooth after just the first pass!
I had four days of growth (I was avoiding shaving, as I have what I think is in an ingrown hair…)
And it just mowed right through it and I didn't feel a thing! The handle itself is one of the reasons I bought this razor as I've been feeling I need a longer/ heavier handle than the ones I've been using. The length is absolutely perfect for my big, shovel hands and really felt 'right'. I think I'll end up using this handle with my DE89 head too.
But I think this razor could be my new ‘daily driver'...
Very impressed!
I also threw a little of the Amber Fougere on after as more of an EDT and the scent is great!

Ps. Not sure this is the thread for this and it probably isn't... but on the ingrown hair subject….. I basically had what appeared like a normal spot, but with a hair growing out of it…
I couldn't see any sign of a hair growing back into the skin but still, I think this could be an ingrown(although I'm really not sure?…..)
I was trying to avoid it in today's shave but I ended up without realising shaving off the hair in question and the others around it! Didn't feel a thing once again and no blood but just wondering if this sounds like an ingrown or whether I should be shaving over this spot?!

Many thanks again to Boycie! Looking forward to trying the rest of the kit and to many shaves with the Parker!

Razor- Parker 55sl

I once had an ingrown hair, it looked just like a spot but I noticed a small bit of hair sticking out of the centre of the swelling so with the aid of some tweezers I pulled on the hair and to my supprise a long curly hair was pulled out! The hair had curled tight under my skin untill it had become infected and came up like a spot. The hair was about 3 inches long growing under my skin.
It was the only ingrown I have ever had. :) P.

Today's shave brought with it the theme 'No socks?'

IMG_20200616_192145.jpg

By golly that is a smashing razor - Occams Enoch
My oh my what a damn fine blade - Kai Captain (3)
Chin chin chaps it's a Welsh brush - Yaqi Dandelion
No socks please we're British - Extro Arancia
Milk on the doorstep? Rather - Atelier Sanguine

After my recent attempts to write using the Scottish dialect I have decided to give it all a miss in the future and stick to what I am really crap at, writing in my own native language. Then again being originally from Goole and spending my childhood in Doncaster I guess there is some level of ignorance factored in somewhere. Having spent the past 37 years in Liverpool my 'gradu ignorantia' naturally increased.

I failed my O'level English literature in fantastic style having complained that the question paper covered books and poetry we had never studied in our syllabus. That was the first major mistake. Having overlooked those simple words 'Answer 4 out of 8 questions'. No surprise that I found myself writing essays on books I barely knew the title of never mind the contents. My second mistake was that I am just plain shit.

Anyway it is time to wrap up this piffle and get down to the nitty gritty, the nut and bolt basics and scribble some waffle on my SOTD.

Having really got to love my new General V2 and finding the advantages of having a smaller head (quite the opposite of myself) I thought I'd give the Enoch an outing using a blade with a little more of a forgiving edge being as this razor leans more towards the aggressive side. In this case a third time around Kai Captain.

As much as I want to find out if @Boycie83 really does burn after finding a source of Extro Arancia here in the UK, I don't feel I have to be so protective over my present 'in the cabinet stock' as another jar is winging its way towards me. But I will be billing him for the £22 it has cost. Figure in the Daffodil and a wonderful orange scented lather is ready to do its shaving duty. Believe me, if orange is your forte in life then this Extro really should be on your soap list.

Lathered, primed and ready to go (Please note. No socks were included in this shave). Hit the face and stroke away. With this change of blade the Enoch has been tamed and compared to my past Occam experiences everything has snapped in to focus and the word 'control' has appeared for the first time. To be honest it has suddenly shot up my razor ranking table and delivering a shave with utmost comfort and pleasure. Three passes with no fear factor, a total lack of red stuff and a stunning finish. L O V E R L Y.

It remains an absolute arse to change the blades and if you can achieve it and still have finger tips remaining then kudos. There is actually a greater chance of involuntary digit amputation changing the working end of the razor than there is skimming it across your face. The soft touch Kai Captain is still a nasty piece of sharp stainless when you are buggering about trying to get it in to the Enoch.

So shave another day and with more positive thoughts towards the Occam I am actually starting to enjoy having it in the shaving armoury. Charmingly smooth and my wife phoned me to share my elation

'Oh my love I am so pleased you actually managed to form a bubble with the Enoch'
'What's a bubble?'

The Atelier Sanguine just added further to the fragrant theme of smelling like a bag of Clementines

The results of letting a band of Japanese ladies loose with an Ikon Tech

No socks? Then you are in need of education

Razor: ATT S2
Blade: Gillette 7 O'clock SP Black (1)
Brush: Yaqi Rainbow
Soap: ESC Fuar Ach Snog
Pre: Proraso Green
ASL: Proraso Green
ASB: Proraso Green

Full of cold so fancied a face cooler shave. I love the Proraso Green product line and the Fuar Ach Snog cream is fantastic in terms of scent, cooling and performance. Definitely one of my top favourite creams.

Another sharp blade that works well in the S2. I'm quite taken by this plate. It will be interesting to see how I find the S1 in comparison. Well, interesting for me. The rest of you will just have to suffer my ramblings.

Yikes! Doesn't sound good!
See it's funny, I hadn't noticed any problems before where I have the 'spot'...
It just popped up a day or so after my last shave and the hair was poking up through the centre like you say! I thought it could just be a spot but now I'm not so sure!

If you can still see the hair in the middle of the spot / swelling give a gentle tug with some tweezers, if it is the same it will need to come out anyway because it will become infected if left, at least you know what to expect, it was quite shocking to me to see this long curly hair being pulled out of my face! :) P.

Thanks Paul, that's true! The 55sl soon shaved it right off so I hope it comes back! ;)

The picture has nothing to do with my shave today - it was unused previously - and it is currently pitch dark - so that will have to do.

Tepid shower - double zero clippers on head - cold water shave

prep - facial scrub
razor - Gillette Slim (4)
blade - Lodz Polsilver (polenta - 6)
soap - MT - Mint Ice Menthol paste - vegan
brush - Simpsons P8 Phyl best
post - cold water - still - nante witch hazel
a/s - Mentally Glacial mix - if you are not familiar - that is half and half Floid Mentally Vigorous and Alcolada Glacial - named by @Paul L
balm - Vifrex gel.

A lovely restorative shave - ordinarily I wouldn't set about cleaning myself up at one in the morning - but a combination of insomnia and horrible humidity in Glasgow tonight - led me to all things menthol - if there is any chance I will sleep tonight - we aren't talking Equatorial rain forest humid - but by local standards it is too warm and sticky - every window in the flat is wide open - although I do swear that I can hear unspeakable things being done to monkeys - civets - even? - a jaguar on the prowl - in the quiet of the Govanhill night. Might just be the locals - probably. It's a goddam jungle out there. Sorry - shaving - back in the room - the blade is just getting into its stride - good for another four or five uses before you become concerned about them - turning the Slim up to four - is perfect - a wee bit more assertive - as I am currently only shaving every three to four days. A classic razor for a reason. You don't see the Vifrex balm mentioned much - but check it out menthol troops. My face! - my face! I can't feel my face! Stay safe - one and all - this - probably - is the most dangerous time - especially - given the jaguar on Dixon Avenue. I.

Razor: Gillette Super Adjustable 109 P1 (setting 3)
Blade: Nacet
Brush: Yaqi 24mm Synthetic Cashmere Knot
Croap: Extro Vetiver
Post: Cold rinse
Balm: Nivea Sensitive

Another shave and another new soap to try. This was my first try of an Extro Cosmesi croap and chose Vetiver based on @Boycie83 “ramblings” of the range. I found the scent subtle and pleasant. I would struggle to describe what it smelt of just that I liked it. A small amount of product produced a plentiful lather. As for the shave, good protection and slickness so no problems there. This looks to be a soap I would want to use on a regular basis.

Roll on tomorrow, as Del Don is next on the list.

Greetings,

Another comfortable shave to end the week. The Parker 55SL/Zorrik SP have been a comfortable match throughout the week. However, i'll be honest and say today the blade did start to feel as though it was starting to lose it's edge on the final pass, and i had to do some buffing under my jaw-line tough stubborn stubble areas a few times to get it acceptably smooth. That said, i can't grumble as no was irritation caused, adding to that the consistancy of the blade throughout the week has been suprisingly good.

I'm happy that i've reaquainted myself with the zorrik sp and will add it to my blade rotation for future shaves.

A pleasurable 3 pass + pick ups BBS shave with no errors to report.

Finishing to the shave off with a generous dollop of Nivea Men ~ Cooling PSB.

My face is feeling super smooth & smelling divine.;)

Stay safe, and enjoy your Day ladies & gentlemen.
