A straightforward shave this evening. The Fatboy still amazes me with just how well it shaves for a razor with so many decades under its belt.

An incident free 3 pass shave with a BBS finish. I had to go outside straight after shaving and the LEA balm gave that cool refreshing feel. Brilliant.

Have a great nights folks! [emoji1303]

My chosen theme for today's SOTD was 'Dr Harris Arlington and his amazing elixir of shaving'

42909

Dr Doolittle - Colonial General
Dr do even less - Kai Captain
Dr Zhivago - Razorock 24mm Plissoft
Dr Bones McCoy - D.R.Harris Arlington
Dr Victor Von Doom - Apothecary Oils Lemon Grass hand soap
Dr Bruce Banner - Bath House Spanish fig and nutmeg aftershave lotion
Dr doctor - Bath House Spanish fig and nutmeg EDC

'Laaaaaadies aaaaaand gentlmen. Roll up roll up for Dr Harris presents his amazing elixir of shaving. In exchange for coinage of the realm he offers you an abundance of the most opulent of shaves'

And then I realised it was D.R.Harris and not Dr.Harris. Bang goes my theme for this evening. Diminished Responsibility anyone?

Today was a trial for two new products in the ever increasing den of shaving related articles. 'Apothecary Oils Lemon Grass soap'. An impulsive purchase between feeding chickens and goats with the granddaughters at Cedar Farm. God bless them and I do apologise that granddad took time out to blow the money he had planned to buy you both an ice cream with. What a mean old git I am. But what a soap. This must be the strongest scented soap I have ever met and it is quite mind bending with its tangy, zesty, lemony grassy aroma. The best £4.99 of the day.

Of course I am not that tight and of course they had an ice cream each and of course they thought it was money better spent. One day they will understand in a similar manner I am sure I will understand handbags and shoes. My wife is the British Imelda Marcos and I still fail to understand.

As I mentioned in 'April Acquisitions' a visit to Leeds the other day saw the annual pilgrimage to 'The Traditional Shaving Shop' in the Grand Arcade. I love this little shop and being as establishments like this are so rare outside of London I always feel a purchase is a necessity. On this occasion D.R.Harris's Arlington shaving soap was the select order of the day. It makes a wonderful change to browse and select as against to 'Search, select and hit buy'. I must say I have really hit it lucky with shaving soaps recently and not one duff purchase to date. My donkey fetish cream being one excellent 'hit buy' and the Arlington being a wonderful 'hit buy and hand some cash over to the nice girl behind the desk' purchase. A luxurious lather with a very subtle and fresh scent which was well hidden behind a wall of Lemon Grass, but smelt nice on the brush and so a big plus.

Rather let down by the fact it is not formulated by a doctor (although I did find a Dr.Sam Harris who has nothing to do with shaving......or at least I think so unless there is a connection with neurology or philosophy.......Mmmm judging by TSR, probably both)

There is not much I can say about the Colonial General what I haven't said before outside of 'Wake up you the Colonial twins and wake up to the fact the world needs the General'. I really hope that they return to their roots and The General. One of the finest razors to hit the planet shave. Until that day we will just have to accept the black hole which remains. Until then I will gloat because I am a mean old sod of a granddad and a gloating one at that........................honest I did buy an ice cream for my granddaughters.

Kai Captain because it works.

By the time I had finished with the Spanish Fig and Nutmeg aftershave balm and EDC I was a living example of fragrances fighting for face space. The Lemon Grass soap still remained to win the day. Amazing bloody stuff.

Overall, one fantastic and most smooth shave. Forget baby's bottoms and all that, today was ice cream smooth. Smooth, refreshed and feeling wonderful. Apparently even the chicken and goats had a great day. Did I mention donkeys? In fact, today contained no donkeys.

Have a great whatever remains of the week and may your Easter's be full of bunnies and over indulgent chocolate eggs.

Que?

1st outing with my E3. I think I needed convincing as it is tiny in my mit.

A nice lather mixed up, face prepped with the 1912 Scottish Heather. I think the 1912's are my favourite soap at present. So nice.
Anyway I digress, the shave went well, although I thought the blade was tugging, very audible but it was cutting. I needed 3 passes WTG/ATG then XTG, the lather did its job well and the vintage brush stood up, a nice face painter.
I thought I was going to have a singing face when I applied the Alum block, surprisingly very little indication at all.
A splash of cold water, a touch of my witch hazel concoction, the last bit of my Intenso balm:cry: and a splash of D.R.H Bay Rum.
All in all an enjoyable shave although I had to work at it a bit.
I believe the vintage blade could be the problem. I have some new Schick on order- with more 1912 soaps.
Have a great day all.
