SOTD
Wikinson Sword Sticky
NOS Wilkinson Sword Blade
Cella Shaving Soap
Big Jock Synthetic Brush

Result BSS WTG

I know there are members on here that go to great lengths to obtain these blades, circling around on ebay like vultures spying a near death victim, yeh... I can see why!
The first scrape down the cheek nothing! No sound, No feeling just smoothness ..... is this blade a duffer? nope the blade is working.
The second scrape, something's different WTF!
The third scrape BAM the blade bursts into life, WOW! (assumes a protective coating has now gone)
As I'm sure you'll know modern Wilkinson swords are my go to blades, and have been since I was 18 years old, these NOS blades are a notch above the modern ones for sure, smooth sharp and very comfy.

SOTD 13/04/18
Razor: Gillette Tech
Blade: Astra Superior Blade
Brush: Progress Vulfix Super Badger
Soap:Tabac shaving stick
Post-shave: warm water, cold water, Windrose alum block, Tabac aftershave balm, Tabac aftershave lotion

This is my first post for several months. My laptop crashed so I lost my rotation spreadsheet and due to depression I couldn't be bothered. As I'm finally feeling better and I have a new laptop the rotation list has been setup again. Time to get back into a fantastic community of like minded people. :)

Yesterday evening I travelled to Elgin and stayed at the Laichmoray Hotel. Fantastic whisky bar where I enjoyed a dram of my new favourite - Balvenie 14 year old Caribbean Cask. I asked for a double but because the bottle was almost finished I got 2.5 measures. :D

In the past I have tried the Gillette Guard and Wilkinson Sword Classic for my travel razor but have had issues with them. I have gone back to the Gillette Tech as it just works. Tabac as usual delivers.

Pre-shave: Warm shower, Wright's Cold Tar Soap, cold water splash, Proraso Pre Shave Sensitive.
Cream: Kiehl's Flite Lite.
Brush: Shavemac ' The Flat Top' Slivertip.
Bowl: Giles Shaving Co - Spotty Pedstal Wet Shaving Bowl.
Razor: Karve OC - B Plate.
Blade: Gillette Silver Blue (1).
Post: Cold water, Floïd Vigoroso, followed by Isle of Skye Soap Co - Cedarwood and Sage shave balm and and Czech & Speake Vetiver Vert Cologne.

First run out of the Karve OC - I ordered the B and D plates; I love this razor - its like an upgraded Fatip Piccolo in terms of build quality and performance. The OC B plate was very smooth and efficient.

I used Proraso shave cream as a precaution as I did not know what to expect from the razor in terms of aggressiveness - a 3 pass shave (2 passes would have been OK) with no issues to report (2 weepers that vanished after a cold water splash).

The Floïd Vigoroso was devine as ever. On holiday last week I picked up some shave balm from the Isle of Skye Soap Co. A very good balm, - a beeswax base; a little goes a long way.

I think that Chris at Karve has come up with a winner with the OC - a robust razor that performs well.

Wishing everyone a great weekend.

All the best,

Chris

A much better shave this evening. More growth gives me a far superior shave!

Everything just seemed to work better. I gave each stage a bit more time and made sure there was no pressure.

The Feather blade could be a weapon of mass destruction. Until now I have used Schick Proline blades in my SE razors and these have been really smooth and effortless. Changing to the Feather blades has taken the razors up a couple of rungs on the aggressive ladders. Lose concentration at your pearl!

The Stirling Co. products smell good. The soap in particular gives good slickness and cushion. The balm also gives a nice scent though it does take a bit longer for it to absorb into my skin. Once absorbed, my face feels extra smooth.

This was a better shave - a seven out of ten. I think going back to Schick blades will improve it again.

Have a great night folks! [emoji1303]

Pre - Soap free face wash
Soap - Ingram
Brush - Yaqi Fan Tuxedo
Razor - Ball End Tech
Blade - Sputnik
Post - Witch Hazel
Balm - Nivea Replenishing
AS - Gillette Cool Wave

As Ingram seems to be on it's on it's way out I decided it was probably a good time to pick up a tube and today was the first time using the cream. It's not the thickest of creams I've tried and on the face it felt a bit like I had smeared my face with toothpaste, and it took about twice as much cream as I'd use for some other creams in my rotation (eg Palmolive, Lea) and the lather didn't have as much cushion but it was very slick with a very nice post shave feel.

After reading of @Sezer1974 ordering some of Gillette reissued splashes I thought it was a good opportunity to use some of the Cool Wave splash I picked up in India. I cannot remember whether the Cool Wave reissue is much like the original but it is a nice pleasing Aqua style splash nonetheless, not a million miles from Brut Oceans.
