SOTD : Saturday 13th April - Friday 19th

Wed 17th April

Simpson Chubby 1 / Maggards 2band
Williams Mug Soap
Alu.Hawk / Windrose handle
Schick Proline [ 2 ]
Williams Aqua Velva A/S Lotion

Another pleasant AC/SE Shave, with the lighter Hawk fitted with a S/S Handle to give it a bit more weight. The Windrose handle is very good as it not only provides the extra weight that I like, but its shape provides a good grip for working AGT and around the neck. The Shave was smooth and comfortable, and also nice and close all round. This is a good Razor for someone who wishes to try out an AC/SE Razor without breaking the bank.

Pre: 1912 Scottish Heather
Brush: Vintage Culmak Plus (1950?)
Soap: 1912 Scottish Heather
Blade: NOS PAL Premium Edge
Razor: Schick E3
Post shave: cold water splash, Alum block, homemade Witch Hazel Tea tree/lime/patchouli/ Eucalyptus astringent,
Balm: D&G Intenso
Aftershave: D.R. Harris & Co Bay Rum

1st outing with my E3. I think I needed convincing as it is tiny in my mit.

A nice lather mixed up, face prepped with the 1912 Scottish Heather. I think the 1912's are my favourite soap at present. So nice.
Anyway I digress, the shave went well, although I thought the blade was tugging, very audible but it was cutting. I needed 3 passes WTG/ATG then XTG, the lather did its job well and the vintage brush stood up, a nice face painter.
I thought I was going to have a singing face when I applied the Alum block, surprisingly very little indication at all.
A splash of cold water, a touch of my witch hazel concoction, the last bit of my Intenso balm:cry: and a splash of D.R.H Bay Rum.
All in all an enjoyable shave although I had to work at it a bit.
I believe the vintage blade could be the problem. I have some new Schick on order- with more 1912 soaps.
Have a great day all.
I find the Proline B blades are very effective in the E3.

Brush - dscosmetics 26mm silvertip
Pre - Proraso Sandalwood
Razor - Yaqi DOC
Blade - Voskhod (1)
Soap - TOBS Eton cream
ASB - Proraso Blue
Bowl - Giles Shaving Co.

My first shave with an OC. A great shave with a BBS finish. I've read the Yaqi DOC is a very mild OC but this has given me the confidence to try some of the other OCs in my collection. I really enjoyed using this razor and it was less than £12 delivered from China.

Voskhod performed well and this was the first time I've bowl lathered Eton. Not sure I gained anything by it as it still performed the same (excellently), but it did mean I could use the beautiful bowl made by Ross! The dscosmetics brush is another good performer - on par with my Yaqis for quality.
