SOTD : Saturday 11th July - Friday 17th July 2020

17/7/20

Brush - Yaqi Plissoft 22mm
Soap - Signature Soaps A Capra
Razor - Ball End Tech
Blade - Lancet Super Platinum (10)
Post - Witch Hazel
Balm - Nivea Cooling Kick
AS - Signature Soaps Danum Patchouli Splash

2nd lather with the SS A Capra, and I have to say the scent of the soap isn't the best, it's very earthy but aside from this small issue and even though it's just early days with using it might be one of my favourite shaving soaps I have used for performance and post shave feel, and for my skin which is quite sensitive mid shave it sits on my face without the slightest bit of irritation.

The blade was definitely done on the last shave, but I was too lazy to take the blade out and picked up a nick on my second pass above the lip. I think I might have to adjust my passes a little, I don't think the area around my mouth can handle more than 1 pass if I shave daily. I was really impressed with the Lancet Super Platinum, not a brand I was familiar with and it's good to have a few alternatives to the Gillettes I seem to gravitate towards the most.

Finished the shave with a bit SS Danum splash, looks like another SS product which seems destined to be a favourite.

Anyway gents, have a good Friday and I hope you enjoy this new spell of warm weather.

Soap Stirling Orange Chill 1st Use!
Bowl Turkish Copper
Brush Yaqi 26mm Moka Express
Razor Gillette New SC
Blade BiC Chrome Platinum 1st
Post & Aftershave
Ice Water + Special Thayers Mix
Hyaluronic + Reuzel Wood & Spice
1st use of a Stirling Soap. Heard so much about this famously affordable but good quality shave soap. Upon opening of the lid...waaaaa...wonderful aroma of Oranges! To me like fizzy orange... probably because of the menthol. I have the Italian Orange soap and asked my wife to sniff & compare, her reply was one smells cheap & artificial and another smell more real...hahahaha...yup Stirling!! Through-out the lathering in the bowl, scent was evident...above mild but below strong. Smell of Orange and very nice cooling sensation on face too. Wow...love it dearly! Nice thickness, creaminess and good slickness. Not as thick as Tabac but enough.
Shave with razor paired with blade was good, comfortable, ok smoothness & ok sharp. After long spell with Tatra and Polsilver....hmmm...spoiled. Still, 3 multiple passes with some buffing with no issues. Icy water rinse followed by Thayers ensure a longer cooling effect then soothed by Hyaluronic and Reuzel.
DFS++ with rating 9.3/10

Side note: Good quality soap. Affordability checked, Scent checked, creaminess checked, slickness checked, feel on face checked and the conclusion is not disappointed at all. Test another tomorrow. Meantime, prefer the Tatra...Polsilver

Pre - Shower / Face wash
Cream - GFT Eucris
Brush - Trad Shave Co. Badger
Razor - Merkur 34G
Blade - Wilkinson (2)
Post - Alum followed by some moisturiser with SPF

Same set up as yesterday. I'm going to try and use this cream up as I want to use the bowl for a soap puck. There will be little variation for the next few weeks. Todays shave was a nice comfortable three pass affair with no feedback from Mr Alum.

Razor - Feather AS-D2
Blade - Timor
Soap - Signature Soaps - Capra
Brush - Omega 49 Boar
Post - Signature Soaps Aftershave Splash - Hybernia ( on test )
Frag - Agua Lavanda - Puig EdC

My first use of Timor blades today and I thought a good test bed razor would be my AS-D2, only my first use so I cannot say too much about them other than I found it smooth and sharp and worked well in my razor of choice. I will continue to evaluate this blade in the coming days.
I'm still loving the Capra goats milk soap from Signature Soaps and the aftershave Splash that I am testing for @BrianH is spot on, a great scent with astringent properties as well as skin conditioning properties that leave the skin feeling great.
All in all a great shave was had, as happy as a pig in s---! :)

Untill the next time, stay safe and be lucky!

Paul.

The Grosvenor- 404 mixed
Vitos Super Red
Wabbit V1 - 3D printed
Schick Chick ( 1 )
Pitralon Classic A/S lotion

The Wabbit V1 takes Injector Blades, hand loaded into the top cap which is then secured into the integrated base/ handle.
With its tapered non slip handle it fits naturally in the hand, and being very light needs a featherlight no pressure touch. As I have a tough beard I employed short stroke for initial clearance. It has a nice degree of blade feel not overly aggressiv, the Shave was quite smooth in all areas though by trying to go ultra close I got a weeper under the chin. For a first time Shave the finish was exceedingly good, similar to those I get with my Canadian E2 and N3.

I used Brian's SS Capra today as well, and it produces an exceptional lather with a great post shave feel, very neutral.

The Danum splash as well is shaping up to my one of my favourite's. I'm really looking forward to when they will be on his site, it'll definitely solve the problem of the awkward birthday present for my brother in law this year...

My grandson just got a haircut too. Here he is a month ago at his 3rd birthday party.

And here he is a couple days ago after the haircut.
