SOTD 01/17/20

Friday greetings to all! I so enjoyed my shave yesterday, that I decided to repeat it! I usually fall back on my favorite MWF, but that wonderful Anise scent from the Stirling Glacial Obsidian reminds me of a favorite gum from my childhood, Blackjack, which my grandfather, a WWI Marine vet always used to always carry! Blackjack chewing gum finally returned in 2018 and is as delicious as it has ever been. This old-fashioned gum established multiple “firsts” upon its invention in 1884 in the United States. With its black licorice taste, Blackjack was the first flavored gum available in America. I realized that it stoked very good memories of fishing with him as a small boy! As it turns out, I ‘m now a grandfather and have outlived him by a decade and a year.
Anyway, back to this great shave! BBS all around as yesterday! I'm really enjoying the new Jayaruh Custom Silvertip Badger with the extended Rosewood handle. It whipped up a generous lather allowing that lovely Anise scent to waft around enhancing what turned out to be a luxurious, thick, glistening, protective lather! I don't know whether it's half a century of wet shaving experience or just the razors, but I've never cut or nicked myself with either the Lupo or Silversmith. I feel clean, smooooth, coool, and refreshed. I'm really looking forward to spending time with my grandson this afternoon.

RAZOR: Razarock DLC Coated SS Lupo
BLADE: Feather
PREP: Cold water rinse followed by a scrub with PAA's Charcoal-Menthol Cube Preshave Soap
BRUSH: Jayaruh Custom Silvertip Badger
POSTSHAVE: Cold water wash with brush squeezings followed by Thayers Lavender WH and finished with Stirling Glacial Obsidian AS Splash

I have been getting mixed Shaves with my newly acquired Occams Enoch & Hiram, so went for the Oren instead. This Razor has been well used by me, and today as usual I had a smooth and comfortable Shave, and had no problems getting a first class all round finish.

A full on Neroli shave today, i know it is a love/hate scent but for me i really like it.

Proraso Sensitive Pre Shave
Scottish Fine Soaps Traditional
Semogue 740 Badger Brush
Baili BT131 'Tech' with an Israeli Personna Blade
Thayer's Witch Hazel with Cucumber
Creighton's ASB
Old Spice Wolfthorn AS

It has been a strange day. I was out last night so no prep for today's shave. I slept in this morning and had to grab the first things I could find. Rushed in to work to discover that I shouldn't have been there .....because I am on a long shift tomorrow.

The shave was pretty good.....I just didn't have time to enjoy it

Prep: Bath
Pre: Proraso white
Brush: Big Jock silvertip badger
Soap/Cream: Proraso green bowl lathered
Razor/Blade: QShave Parthenon (3,2,1)/ Polsilver (1)
Post: Alum and cold water splash
ASL: Geo Trumper extract of limes skin food (free sample)
Cologne: Oud Wood from copycat fragrances

First shave with the QShave Parthenon carrying out a 3 pass shave using the lower settings on the razor. Its a much milder razor than my Merkur Futur and set at 1 it's extremely mild. Next time I may notch these settings up a bit. Altering the settings is easy, but there's enough resistance on the adjustment ring so that it cannot be changed by accident whilst shaving. Overall a very comfortable razor to use and a bargain at less than £20.

+ 1 on the Baili BT131 Tech...I have two Baili razors the BD177 Rose Gold TTO. & the BD 191. Both are wonderful razors.. Especially the BD177 Rose Gold TTO...I'll have to give them both a run out soon.
