I am pleased to say that my post tonight has been classified as 'U' - by the British Board of Shaving Fora - suitable for all the family.

Sotd - Thursday the 8th and - today - Saturday - the 10th of November -

8/11 -

Razor - Mergress (1.5)
blade - Aussie Spoiler (18)
brush - Semogue 1305 boar
soap - La Pere Lucien - Abricot
post - witch hazel
a/s - LPL Abricot
balm - none.

Today - 10/11 -

Razor - Mergress (1.5)
blade - Aussie Spoiler (19)
brush - Simpsons P8 Phyl best
soap - Meissner Tremonia - Black Beer No. 1 paste
post - witch hazel
a/s - Myrsol Agua Balsamica
balm - Floid
scent - Dior Eau Sauvage parfum.

Result - todo bien.

I realised that - in retrospect - shaving with candle light - as mentioned in my previous wittering - was a good - if not excellent experience - choosing to try it again. It is so relaxing - I was thinking about why this might be the case. It is the quality of the light? Your average bathroom - the illumination - has all the charm of an operating room - or an abattoir - for that matter - cold and sterile. Candles give warm light - modelling - they flicker - okay you can't see that well what you are doing - but if you are - in my opinion - at least semi-competent - your face doesn't need to be well lit. I found it so very relaxing - historically it makes sense - electric light - is a very recent innovation by humans - the vast majority of shaves - past - will have been conducted by daylight - candle - or lamp - be that - oil - blubber - whatever. I mostly shave at night - before I sleep - this approach I will continue to experiment with. Try it yourself - see what you think. Combine candles with lavender? - I may well be discovered hours later on the den floor - fast asleep. The LPL soap is good for me - some report lathering and drying out problems - not in my case - very good. I left the Semogue a wee bit wetter than usual before using it - that might be the trick. Beautiful scent and the splash is even better.

Almost pissed off shaving this morning in daylight - the perfect time of the year to dig out the MT Black Beer - a superb soap base - in my opinion - a nice dark - herbal - spicy scent - ease of lathering up there - for me - dovetails beautifully with the Myrsol Balsamica after shave. Still totally impressed with the parfum strength Sauvage. I can still smell it 11 hours later - people comment on it - positively - thankfully.

So - job done - two nice shaves - enjoy yours one and all - yours - I.

P.S - no cuss words at all - I'm very fu**ing impressed with myself. Must be the candle light shaving? So - much more mellow? Ha ha - that will be shining fu**ing bright.

DS Cosmetics Tuxedo Brush
Mongoose B2 on UFO Kaiser XL Handle
Sir Irisch Moos
Extro Pirata AS Balm

The knot on the brush felt, stiffer and springier than the other Tuxedo brushes I own. It doesn't splay easily but is fine for bowl lathering.

It has a sizeable glue knot and the fibre feels as though it belongs to an earlier generation of synthetic brushes.

The tips aren't as soft as some of the better synthetic brushes but were soft enough.

It's not the best synthetic brush on the market but it's cheap. Yaqi and AP Shave Co do, though, make much better brushes for a similar price.

Pre shave: Warm shower and Nivea face wash
Razor: Timeless 0.95 SB
Blade: NOS Gillette Stainless - Czech Republic (#1)
Soap: Saponificio Varesino 70th anniversary soap
Brush: Maseto 30mm Silvertip
Bowl: Korium
Post shave: Alum block, cold water splash and Humphreys Cucumber witch hazel
AS: Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey lotion
EDT: Issey Miyake L'Eau d'Issey

I have at last got around to getting myself a Timeless, I last tried one on a pass around over a year ago. It turned out the 0.95 SB and smooth cap combination was my preferred set up, before trying a Timeless my ideal in my head was an OC with scalloped cap, now there is nothing wrong with that combination after trying it but the SB and smooth cap was what I decided I would buy.

I'm really pleased I grabbed this Timeless and the shave is a good as I remembered it.

Today was rounded off with the Proclaimers live in concert in Edinburgh.

I have to be honest Iain - I fear for your sanity. Great photo though.

Shaving Recipe For Remembrance Sunday.

Prep: Hot shower:/ L'OREAL~ Hydra Sensitive Birch Sap Shower Gel.

Pre:

warm wet flannel to my face.

Pears ~ Transparent Soap.

Brush: Anbbas Pure Boar.

Face Lather.

Soap : Boots ~ Original Shave Stick.

Blade: Trig Stainless (Blue Cover) .(2)

Razor: Wilkinson Sword Classic.

Warm wet flannel/ cold wet flannel to rinse my face.

Post:

Cold Water Face Rinse.//Homemade Lavender + Tea Tree Oil Witch Hazel Mixture./ Boots ~ Freshwood ASL + Balm.

Greetings,

'In honour to the fallen heroes of all wars past & present'..'All politicians around the world should visit war memorials to be reminded what happens when politics fails'.

A relaxing 3 pass + pickups 'rememberance sunday' morning shave with no errors to report.

The trig blade gave the mild w.s. classic razor a more efficient edge, slicing through my stubble with ease...

Recently i've been using my humble shave sticks, which provided me with some excellent lathers. The boots stick has a nice fresh fragrance wetting the stick in hot water , then applying it directly into my stubble building a lather up on my face which created anough for the full shave, without having to re-apply the stick.

Finishing the shave off with a generous dollop of Boots ~ Freshwood A/S balm.

Enjoy your sunday, ladies & gentlemen.

Razor: Weber ARC
Blade: Wizamet Polsilver
Brush: 'Jade' (Rooney Heritage 2XL Jade)
Soap: Chiseled Face: Sherlock
Post: Cold water rinse / Witch Hazel / Chatillon Lux: Bon Vivant Post Shave Toner

1st outing with a fresh Wizamet Polsilver.. a bit harsh to start with, but man, does it settle down to give a stellar shave.... hell yeah!

Thursday.
Prep: Hot towel
Pre shave: Prep
Razor: Merkur 34C HD
Blade: Polsilver Super Iridium
Brush: 'Da Vinci' ( Rod Neep CS-1 "Forest Flame" 30mm Extra Dense Silvertip )
Soap: Super Smooth V2 test sample
Post: Cold water rinse / Witch Hazel / RazoRock Aftershave Wax

I was a bit surprised when the unscented V2 test sample came through the post, but seeing that I was due a shave, I thought 'why not'! So, my thoughts.. the lather was ample, lush, and surprisingly light... slickness was to be expected, with no problems, but the post shave was very good... skin looked, and felt very healthy, even though there was a bit of redness in a couple of spots, due to 'new blade harshness', the skin soon settled down with no problems.. Overall, it does exactly what it says on the tin, but I just wish that it had more of a WOW factor..
