Friday morning

Wickham's 1912 Cashmere
Yaqi Red Marble Tuxedo 24mm synth
Face lather
Gillette No.88
Astra SP
Thayer's Rose Petal and Aloe Vera
Wickham's 1912 Cashmere splash
Bois du Portugal EdP

Lovely shave this morning. Great lather between the Wickham's and the Yaqi. However, the brush has shed a couple of bristles (one when fanning out after purchase; and one whilst lathering today). I'm hoping this is just loose/poorly packed ones at time of build; as the Yaqis don't appear to be renowned for this. To be fair, though, the brush is still new. It is a great face latherer and also has plenty backbone.

Second outing for the No. 88 and it paired beautifully well with a fresh Astra. Extremely BBS. Smelling pretty damn good too.

7/6/19

Brush - Zenith B07 (24mm/55mm bleached boar)
Soap - Arko/RSC Cream
Razor - Souplex Bakelite
Blade - Gillette 7OC Black (9)
Post - Witch Hazel
AS - Benjamins Bay Rum Mentholated

The Zenith B07 is proving to be a struggle to use to create a decent lather with and today's shave I ran into the same problems using Arko to begin with. Even though I loaded a huge amount of soap into the brush, by the second pass the brush had eaten most of the lather so I squeezed a bit of RSC cream (well a quite a lot) with the hopes of salvaging the lather for my next two passes and seemed to create a huge amount of lather after that.

A good combination of razor and blade today, the 7OC Black is one of the sharpest blades I've used and needs a milder razor head to tame it somewhat. The blades seems to have a good duration as well, 9th shave today and no signs of it's performance fading.

Anyway chaps, have a good Friday - the weekend is almost here.... Feels like it's been a long week....

Razor: NOS Aluminium Gillette Ball End Tech 1950
Blade: Personna NOS Perma Sharp Supreme (4)

Ally Tech,Vul,IL.jpg

Another Tech shave to end the vintage shave week, Stand up a brand spanking new NOS 1950 Aluminium UK Version.
I really do not understand why anything changed since these were in daily production. They are a brilliant razor, no matter what blade I place in them.
Another great lather from the Vintage Cussons and the Vulfix, today i left it as is, without any additions, still a very slick lather and enough for 3 passes WTG , XTG & AGT.
I say 3 passes, well actually the 3rd pass was more of a fingertip search and destroy buffing mission and the results are comfortable BBS shave.
No indications from the block, a nice splash of cold water and the addition of witch hazel.
The NOS Perma Sharp Supreme on its 4th outing still doing the buisness, such a smooth comfortable blade - for me.
Now i said i would not use the peppermint Barts again, however, i hate waste, therefore it got another go today as i love the post shave feel i get from it - cooool, holding my nose until i got the OSP E&M aftershave on, COOOOLer. Just spot on for a warm day.
So to say i am refreshed is an understatement, what a brilliant shave.
Have a great afternoon All and look forward to your weekend.

Have a lovely Friday.

Well the road trip comes to an end and we have time to squeeze in one more shave as we pack up the gear and roll it home. The Timeless SS OC .95 was great on Wednesday so I decided to follow it up with the 34G. I know, 2 razors on a road trip? Yup!

The Palmolive shave stick is a great travel buddy and does the job pretty well. Much smaller than a comparable Tabac shave stick and quite a bit more affordable. Sad they are no longer being produced in the UK...(tear). Fresh out the shower and with a warm towel on the face and the Palmolive SS just glides on. The Yaqi SF whipped it all up into a nice lather which was more than enough for a three pass shave.

Smooth, smooth and smooth! Finished it off with some Nivea balm and we are good to go. Packed up, checked out and released the crew. Time for some breakfast and home to Villa Somnos! Take care, safe travels and happy shaves all!

Fri 7th June

Simpson Chubby 1 / Maggards 2Band
EJ Cool Menthol cream
Schick N3
Schick Twin - Japan [ 12 ]
Alcolado Glacial A/S Splash

Used a cream for a change [ borrowed from son], nice that the tingle and scent stays throughout the Shave. The N3 was very smooth and as usual delivered a nice close all round shave without fuss. Topped the Shave off with a cool Splash, just a shame the sun has gone away today.
