Smart meters - yes or no?

@Shemen Zait A solution looking for a problem is exactly what it is. @jimmyc could you tell a little about your solar system, and what was involved in hooking it up?

yes no problem.
setup is
2 x 280 watt solar panels.
4x trojan 145 6 volt batteries , wired in 12 volt ( should have done it in 24 volt for thinner wires )
30 amp mppt solar charger
600 watt pure sine wave inverter
dedicated ring for solar powered sockets where i need them
if you do some searching you will find all the info you need " navitron " is a good site to start.
I started with a 20 watt panel and a car battery and built up from there, hence the 12 volt system

Against my better judgment I asked for a smart meter ,the bloke come too fit and then said to me it couldn't be fitted because the mobile signal is not good , but to me I really don't need to check on what I'm using,if it's cold the central heating is gonna be whacked up if it's warm the fridge is gonna be turned up and if I can't see, the Peter Kay big light is going on and staying on ,

I bought a new build recently, and it has smart meters. I don't understand why the electric one sends readings automatically, but I have to press buttons outside to send a gas reading.

Might be the type of one you have. Mine send both automatically for gas and electricity.

They tried to fit a smart meter but the mobile signal in my building wasn't good enough. In any case, I don't have a problem reading the meter every so often.
