I have a normal sized rucksack ut can anyone recommend a smaller day rucksack (not one of these new fangled bum bags!) for a single person to carry a drink and a few personal things?
 
Have you had a look at some of Decathlons day bags? they do small day bags but you could also buy a trail running hydration pack
 
Mountain Laurel Designs make excellent outdoors gear using high-quality fabrics. They don't make compromises.

A US company but my experience has been very good. I bought a tent which was delivered in under a week - and I didn't even have to pay import taxes (although not everyone gets away with that).
