Simpsons Chubby questions

Hi all,

I'm seriously considering this brush. I've recently discovered that I love short loft, dense brushes! I have a Rooney 3/1 in Super which has really grown on me, however it has shed 1-2 hairs each time I've used it.

I think I want even more density than the Rooney!

So....
  • Shall I go for a Chubby 1 in Super
  • Or maybe a Chubby 2 in Best?
  • Where shall I get it from? Who has the best prices on these brushes?
  • Would anyone on here that have used these brushes (post-Vulfix takeover) care to comment on their performance?[/list:u]

I should mention that I mainly face lather with soaps, although not exclusively.

    Thanks guys,

    John

i was looking for something very similar but i steered away from the Chubby as i know the handle will be too small for me (i don't have big hands-size 9 or Large) so was leaning towards the Commodore, i haven't made a purchase yet

antdad will add his experience to help you along as he's more knowledge on this than me, considering that he own's 1 or 2 of them

mmmm. Normally I would say go for the Chubby 2 best as it easily represents much better value than the Chubby 1 Super no question. As Hando mentioned the size 1 really is quite small. However having seen the revamped Diamond Edge website and that he is also offering 2 band Chubby 2 Super, if you can get 10% off by mentioning B&B then that might be worth a stretch otherwise the Chubby 2 Best.

I thought there was alot of BS about pre and post vulfix, they just liked creating a little market for themselves, quality control is much better with less shedding and now they're seems to be quite a few 2 bands available so there is less chatter about the glories of the prefix, I would have no worrys about purchasing a new brush from them rather than chasing NOS or a used brush.

I have a chubby # 3 in super, its fantastic.It is a big brush & in hind sight i would go for a 2 or 1.

A word of warning; the super is a lather hog. to overcome this you will need to squeeze the bristles at the base to push all that luxurios lather to the tips.

At the time i bought it, leesrazors.com was the cheapest place i could find. That is State side so probably not as cheap as you would get in blighty.

I have no information on post Vulfix brush's im afraid.

Goo luck,

Fozz

Got to agree with antdad on this, personally I would go for the CH2 in best but if you like a smaller or larger brush I don't think any of them are "bad" choices.

Arrghh.... still can't decide

Hi guys,

I still haven't made my decision regarding which Chubby to get.

I reckon a Chubby 2 would be the right size. I've heard that 1 is too small and 3 may be too large.

So.... shall I get Super, Best, or Two-band? Super and Two Band are the same price, and Diamond Edge have informed me there is no difference in the two apart from appearance.

This is contrary to what I have read about the two-bands. Aren't they supposed to have stiffer bristles with softer tips? And aren't the two-bands more of a bulb shape?

I'm thinking the CH2 Best will be the best value at quite a saving. What you think?

Exactly. There is quite a difference between the Super and 2 band.

If you are a face lathering soap user and considering a 2 band then a more economical option is to commission one from Golden Nib. Should fall within the cost of a Chubby 2 Best.

Sometimes a little too much is made of handle size...they just require a different technique to hold them.

Otherwise go for the Chubby 2

I did it! Need to sit down....

Well, I finally did it....

.... I opted for a bog standard Chubby 2 in Best. I didn't think there would enough difference between that and the Super to warrant the extra cash. I like the look of the two-bands but I don't think I like the bulb shape, I prefer the more traditional fan shape, which in theory should be a bit scrubbier (which I want!)

I think I will post my first ever brush review after receiving it!
