Show us your boars!

...it is a shame about the Stirling; I suspect their supplier has let them down and/or their QC is not up to scratch...
It just may be that you have a duff one, mine does not seem to be displaying the same problems as your's. Maybe back it for a replacement. :) P. It would be interesting to hear from anyone else who has bought one and is also not experiencing these problems. Paul.

Hmm, my Stirling is not shedding at all, and the knot is breaking in quite nicely. The knot does splay a lot indeed, but that doesn't bother me.

Pitralon forever - Real pens have a nib - If it doesn't tick, it's not a watch.

This is mine that I have just used after 3 shaves.

I have lost approx. 3 hairs for each shave but I am not concerned , yet anyway. ;)
Its nice and scrubby and the tips are softening.
Flow through will hopefully improve in time.

Edit: May I add that the ergonomics and weight of the handle is superb.
Unbelievable bang for buck in my opinion. :)

My experience of boar brushes is largely limited to the three I have owned in the last few years and my insights of shedding are observations from owning these particular brushes.

Two boars of those boar brushes are 'exact' Omega 80265's both bought at exactly the same time down to a processing mistake on Ebay.

The first of the 80265's I used was very prickly and has shed a number of bristles with every use and consequently my impression of Omega boar brushes was less than enthusiastic.

The second 80265 has shed a few bristles and been much softer on the face and now my impression of Omega boar brushes is far more enthusiastic!

Consequently my opinion which is far from comprehensive as it's based from my experience which is far more limited than those of many who post on this forum, that even with established brands boar brushes with great reputations regarding shedding there can be a degree of luck whether one gets a shedder or not.

In all natural hair brushes there is a degree of luck regarding shedding but in my experience (touch wood) you have to be pretty unlucky to get a perpetual shedder.
Edit: Can't comment on synthetics.

Zenith 24 mm unbleached shedded for the first ten or so shaves then stopped, can still smell the pig but it is not offensive, break in period was a couple of shaves resulting in soft tips and just enough backbone for me, I really like this 5 euro brush, well the knot that is as handle is nothing special. I believe Zenith also produces a 26 mm version of the unbleached pig but never seen it in a shop.
