Shaving Heirloom

I had a visit from the Northern side of my family weekend before last. I was showing my Aunts the shaving collection when one of them mentioned she still had my Granddad's shaving brush and will pass it on to me. He passed away in 1993 so she's made up to know it's now going in to a family collection. It's my first piece of family shaving memorabilia.

The brush is a boar and has a plastic handle. My Grandad was a practical man so I imagine this was a cheap and readily available brush. I'm not familiar with the logo. Can anyone advise on this type of brush? Make etc? I think he's likely to have bought this in the 80s as he moved to electric shaving when his health deteriorated from 90 onwards.

Great acquisition Chris. The brush looks as good as new, but there seems to be a little residue at the base which suggests it was used.

If you do use the brush, IMO it'd pair well with a Palmolive Stick and Gillette Tech. A classic grandad shave!
Thanks Shubs. It is indeed used and he shaved with Palmolive sticks. I'm going to do the same for its first outing

Some days, I find it almost difficult to have a lather as enjoyable as tallow shaving stick like Palmolive and a boar brush. Simple pleasures, it's like the fish and chips of wet shaving.

I think you should also finish the shave with either Brut or Old Spice.!

I enjoyed the heirloom shave today. The items used are products we assumed he used - Palmolive stick (known) and that he had a silver TTO razor.

I enjoyed this shave - everything performed well and it felt quite emotive.

I don't even know what it says, 76, or AN???
I'll have to look at the logo again but I had assumed it was a Chinese letter. There were a lot of smaller stores near where he lived including some budget ones (Boyes remembered by any of you Northerners?). If it is a Chinese letter, that's proba7the give away but I'm not sure how prolific Chinese imports were in the late 80s / early 90s.
