Start of another shave week.... once again I get the time to savour my time at the sink+mirror.

Out on a stag night/day. Starting with the Liverpool vs Athletico Madrid friendly at Anfield... then into town for drinks, meal, dodgy lap-dancing bars, drinks and last bus home. Oh dear, I feel old just at the thought of it and my liver is crying out in anticipation :p

Sunday afternoon shave going to dinner with the boss, no brown nose involved!
Empty house wife shopping and kids out. Long hot shower and slow no effort shave

Original oldspice, passed down from my dad. Nice clean summer smell nostalgic.


Great shave 1st time against the grain with the straight.
Half a dozen remarks on the great a/s, freinds didn't believe me when I told them it
Was old spice, lol
Meal went well and the gaymers pear flowed well.
Fine start to the week, shame I think it can only go south from here.

* Received two sample creams in the post this morning from The Shaving Shack. They are soon to produce their own shaving cream designed for tougher beards and want opinions on which of two fragrances is better. Not really used to creams but used the badger rather than the boar this morning and made a successful face lather. Took things slower with the shave. Also much shorter strokes than usual, and for the first time in a few days was without nicks. :D

Shave was good, not the best, but I am well through extra time and penalties without losing it because of some paranoia about slightly dodgy refereeing decisions always going against me, so I'll announce the retirement of that blade.

Palmolive SC-GEM 1912 jr with Ted Pella-Semogue 1520 boar brush-NOS Gillette AS.
The Palmolive SC is as nice as the shavestick but I like the shavestick scent better.

Tuesday 11th

Proraso pre/post (in the shower)
Honeybee Issey Miyake. First outing for this soap, was chasing it around a bowl for five minutes before picking it up and using it like a stick.Worked out better that way.
Super Platinum
Aluminium Tech. The blade and razor combo lasted 1 cheek and 2 strokes on my top lip.Tugging terribly.
Switched to HD Rocket with Kai, such a great combo.
Finished with cold rinse,alum, cold rinse.

Felt great driving to work with the window down blowing on my mentholated fizzer :D
Very enjoyable and irritation free shave.

The TOC only just missed out on Desert Island Soap status in the face of very distinguished competition. I always enjoy shaving with this lovely stuff, and last night was no exception, even though I have to admit it wasn't the smoothest result ever.

Better results from the soap this time, but I'm still not quite convinced. Nor am I convinced that I'll get more than one shave out of the blade.
