... was far too early

Edwin Jagger Pure
Taylors Almond
Merkur HD
Derby
Aqueous Cream

This DE shaving lark is getting better and better... not perfect but an RFS (rather fine shave) if I say so myself.

Monday

Pre shave routine required early trip to Lymington to pay £15 duty to collect my Dirty Bird scuttle. So today it was:

Merkur 38C/red personna/mach 3
Duke 3
Real Musgo
Harris Milk A/S balm
And scuttle on debut.

When I have used it enough, I will write a review, but the scuttle got off to a great start. It quickly produced plentiful lather and even though I just used my usual hot tap water, even after 3 passes, the lather was warm. And now I understand the pleasure that is.
Like my barber during my Hungerford shave, I used the Mach 3 today on a sensitive part of my chin - much better.

A good day.

Monday

Futur
Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge (the yellerun)
Simpson's Best Badger Special
Proraso Aloe and Green Tea Shaving Soap (the whiteun)
D.R Harris a/s Milk

I'm conducting a small experiment with one pass shaves, forcing myself not to use ALL the lather is difficult, but I have a theory (and it's only a theory, mind) that after one pass the law of diminishing returns kicks in.

So, one pass it was.

Each to his own!

Wonder if you will stick with it?

It's a trial, so the results will influence any changes to my shaving routine, and you must bear in mind that you are talking a man that shaved for a week with a Mach 3 to see if it ripped his face apart, which it didn't.

Tuesday

Futur
Gillette 7 O'Clock Sharp Edge
Simpson's Best Badger Special
Penhaligon's English Fern Soap
D.R Harris a/s Milk

1 pass, but I'm finding it difficult to resist more!

Wednesday

Trumpers Coral Skin Food
Merkur HD w/ Astra Keramik (1st use)
Trumpers Rose
The Gent's Shop Silvertip Badger
Kings of Shave SPF8 Moisturizer

Great start to the day. :D

Wednesday

A few weeks ago I reported my first shave with a 'feather' during which I had a very bloody time and was left sore for hours. It turned out that it was a Kai, said to be as sharp as a feather. Well I finally decided to try the real feather today, a sample of which I had kept. Things were very different. A close smooth, bloodless shave after which my Florins Balm has left me as comfortable as usual. I suspect that a feather will not be my regular blade, the red personna suits me well and I have some Gillette thins on the way. But feather - I'm sorry to have wrongly maligned you.

Merkur 38C/feather
Semogue 1305
Tabac
Alum
Florins Elite Balm

Off to the Doctor for a foot inspection. NHS at 7.30 am in my village. Times have changed.

Edwin Jagger Pure
Aqueous (as preshave)
Palmolive stick
Merkur HD
Derby (4)
Aqueous (as postshave)

Best yet... first time I've tried the Palmolive and face lathering... lovely slick cream and if its that easy, who needs to use a bowl!

Wednesday

Mach 3
Simpson's Best Badger Special
Penhaligon's English Fern Shaving Soap
D.R. Harris Milk

Fido, you were right, I weakened and did 2 passes
