Sensor Excel Silver Plated

Hi guys,

Is something like this only for collection and designed for use:

<!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=320426818448&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT">http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... K:MEWAX:IT</a><!-- m -->

?

Would it tarnish?

I'm not sure if it's just for collectors or for use, but technically sterling silver "shouldn't" tarnish under normal shaving conditions. You will probably have to make sure it's clean and dry after use, though.
I'm not sure what the quality of the plating is like on that, or the material which has actually been plated underneath, or the quality of the silver. I'm actually surprised it's silver at all (if it is silver). I think Merkur do a chromed stainless steel handle for the Sensor which is probably more suitable material-wise for everyday use.

Here's the Merkur version if you haven't seen it: <!-- m --><a class="postlink" href="http://www.dovo.com/_english/merkur.html#">http://www.dovo.com/_english/merkur.html#</a><!-- m -->
Scroll down to the "MII" razor.

I have a silver plate razor that gets used, doesn't seem to be a problem.

That's what I would have thought. The stuff that really knackers silver is salt and sulphur - assuming your set up is neither under de sea or in a volcano, you'll probably be ok.

lol

Thanks guys. I was thinking of going for it as I really like my sensor. And the blades give me 3 shaves (almost 1 week) which is the same as an iridium.

I just have to find out if there is any ACTUAL difference between using a DE blade or an excel balde for MY BEARD. I think there will be slight irritation with the sensor excel but I have to try it for a week to make sure, and I might go back to it.

Lots of people must be using a brush + quality creams + a cartridge razor combo.

The sensor excel with it's 2 blades is the closesr thing to a DE in terms of blades. I like the razor a lot. Especialy since the right side of my neck has got more twists and curves than monica belucci. The sensor excel blade handles these perfecty. Feel like I am turning my back on DE razors lol.

Do you think the state of a beard can change? I'm sure it can. In the last 2-3 months my beard has become a lot tougher. Like sandpaper. I'm sure constant moisturising etc should help.
