SE blades which ones?

I know there seems to be a number of members that love their SE razors though I'm puzzled by the absence of a dedicated blade that states it's intentions are for shaving. All blades have seem so far in my quest on the web seem to be for DIY! The only ones that come close to any skin contact are the ones on Pella's site [usa]. Am I barking up the wrong tree, are the others okay to use, please direct me, regards, Adam.

Look for "stainless" on the box they are still meant for industrial use ie in scrapers DIY etc but they give an awesome shave and they don't rust

The other uncoated carbon ones can be used and they are cheaper but I found them to be a bit rough. And as I said unless kept completely dry and out of a damp bathroom area they will rust

The gems that Paul sells are thx ones you need and he is the only uk stockist I know of

Be prepared for a great shave if using a SE. I now only use them and very rarely use a DE anymore

Care to explain the difference to this unwashed heathen? I'm very curious, because a solid blade does sound enticing, but I've never read a real description of what makes a SE shave good.

Also, I think the SE razors look fugly.

Shame noone makes them anymore, and I don't see why not. If Merkur et al can pump out so many variations on the one theme, why can't they do something else as well?

There is one modern take on a SE razor. the Cobra. Its a lot like a injetor and takes feather SE blades

The "cobra" looks truly lovely !

I've got one, and it's as near as I've ever come to an open razor "finish" for that special night out. It would be a shade too aggresive for me to use on a daily basis, however would be fine for every other day or fitted into a rotation.

IanM has written a really fair and good review on them in the appropriate section. Executive Shaving are the only UK company I've seen selling them and they also carry the Feather Pro blades which the Cobra takes.

Like Steve my usual daily go to is an Ever Ready SE, which I find gives a consistently better result with very few nicks ot weepers than any DE I've used. Sides, I'm childish enough to enjoy the characteristic sound effect of bristle geting mown down ! Makes me feel as I imagine Desperate Dan would when he shaves.
