Tried out some vintage Chanel Egoiste on the back of my hand earlier. It's nice, sweet and spicy with a tangential rose and tobacco to add some complexity but not so much for me. Might work nicely in the winter months but I can't see myself using it often.
Subsequently, I've chucked on another new arrival. A sample of Parfums de Marly Herod. This is another sweet number, with the tobacco playing the prominent role. It, too, features vanilla and cinnamon and gives a strongly 'designer' feel but is far more to my liking with the focus where it (to me) should be. On the notes which work rather than detracting with the notes which don't. Nice stuff. Will need a proper wearing of this soon.
