That's a lovely look deck you have there.
What's the album like?

I've got a few of his albums, my favorite being 'Love is Hell'.
The last album I bought was '1989' which I loved.

Cheers - its a Garrard 401 in a Slate plinth (my pride and joy). Love my classic HiFi - knocks the spots of a lot of modern gear.
The album is a real grower - played it through about four times today. Its got a Springsteen Tunnel Of Love feel in parts - quite meloncholy.
I have all Ryan's material and quite enjoyed 1989 myself (even got me listening to Taylor Swifts album). Heartbreaker and Gold were the great albums for me that really got me hooked on his material.

A mate of mine refurbished a 301 and it knocked spots off his LP12. I would've laughed but I've got a LP12 too.

Yeah I know what you mean about Taylor Swift. We'll kept it between ourselves, no one will know.:p

Nice one Blackmass nice to bump unto a fellow flat earther! I owned an LP12 for about 20 years and was seduced into the various expensive upgrades and the paranoia of the perfect bounce. Heard a 401, found a well cared for specimen, and never looked back. I still love my Naim amps though!

I was very much the same as yourself, hooked on the upgrade path and never being truly satisfied.
I've taken my LP12 as far as it can go. Well until they bring more upgrades out that is. But I won't be drawn into buying anything else.
The rest of my system is all Linn apart from the speakers which are by Roksan.
I haven't bought anything new for a couple of years now. It's time to enjoy the music.

@jmudrick - i like the SL1200 - much more than a DJ Deck - built like a tank and like you will have found can be modded to bring it to the LP12 and idler deck performance levels. Have one myself in basic form 'loaned' to one of my sons!
What mods have you applied out of interest?

Outboard power supply, KAB fluid damping mod, custom bearing, about 100 pounds of clay/other vibration damping materials, assorted wiring tweaks. I had a very nice Sota table for years and much prefer the SL1200.
