rum

Could anyone recommend a good user-friendly resource for learning about rum? Any forums or website suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm keen to learn more about the drink and have no idea where to start.

I don't know shit about alcohol But I believe if you approach some shops (London) they can help you! I know that the Whisky exchange have a good collection of Rum's

Try gerry's too:

Hiya,

Having gone through aged rum samplings years ago, I settled on Zaya as the best tasting and also very reasonably priced. Much prefer it over something like Ron Zacapa.

Had anyone ever tried Aldi's rum? Their crossbones and sea dog rum sounds interesting.
I had a bottle of the Crossbones recently. A nice dark rum, with a rich toffee aroma and taste. It's quite smooth, and of normal spirit strength, so can be sipped neat, but I prefer it over ice.

The aroma was similar to Woods or Pussers, but it is a lot smoother on the palate than the Woods, and a little sweeter than Pussers. Would definitely buy again.

Thanks. Might give it a try once my bottle of Pussers is finished

Well, I was in Aldi about an hour ago and they didn't have any of the Crossbones that I had, which was a dark navy style in a black bottle, only a darkish golden version in a clear bottle. I've not tried that one, so ymmv.

Glasgow has a relatively new rum distillery. Wester spirit. I took a Groupon tour and really enjoyed it. Rum helped fuel the slave trade and there were many producers here. We were given liberal amounts of their spice rum, a universe away from Morgans, neat and in cocktails. My little party left more than content. So nice i bought a bottle which are produced in 500 bottle batches. 40 proof, ginger beer and lime. Sublime!
