Reliable Strop Restoration Service in the UK?

Hi everyone

I purchased a Neil Miller, shell cordovan (I think!) strop off a BST group a few months ago, and it is beautiful piece. It is usable, but I am conscious that there is considerable (mis)use on it too so I confine my stropping to only parts of the strop. There are a number of scratches and it feels fairly rough in places.

I understand that I could probably do some DIY on it, but I would really like to do it justice. To that end, I was wondering if there is a recommended strop restoration service in the UK? I did see at least one in the US, but so far not finding much in the UK.

Thanks in advance.

Your best bet would be to contact Alastair of Westholme strops, you won't refurbish Cordovan shell but you could replace it, a word of warning shell is pretty expensive, shell Cordovan is very smooth shiny and has a slick draw, how you would return your piece to its original finish, in my opinion, is not possible.

Thank you :) I had wondered whether it was a replacement rather than repair. Keen on doing it as it's a lovely piece and has some significance being a Neil Miller.

Will try and contact Alastair, but according to the message on his website, he isn't currently taking custom orders - only selling on ebay and Facebook. Does he come on this forum do you know?

Thanks again

No, Alastair, he doesn't do forums, tell him what you want through a PM on Facebook I'm sure he will answer your PM.
