RazoRock ECO razor

I think one of the appeals of such a razor is that it is a SE razor where the user is able to take advantage of multitude of different blade choices and the relative lower costs of such blades.

Whether it will shave like a true SE or just 'half a DE' is something we'll only know when the razor's in our hands.

I'm kind of tempted by the RR Eco though, partly down to being intrigued by the first 'half DE' razor I came across which was the Rocnel one which I kind of regret not buying but it did look incredibly fiddly to load and it looks like RR have addressed that particular failing of the Rocnel counterpart.
I have the Rocnel SE-P, and, as an interpretation of the "1/2DE", it's a brutal thing if you make but one mistake with it (and even if you don't). The Focus R48 is a much more forgiving razor, but unlike the Rocnel and this RR, it has a pivoting head, which makes learning to use it a little bit more involved. The Focus is also a fiddle to load, but fine when you eventually get it right, and even if mine isn't a top favourite, I can get along with it.

For me, the USP for another one of these will be if it loads in two moves i.e. the blade positions such that it cannot easily move out of place whilst the other action of putting a cap over it and tightening up happens. In other words, if it's as easy as locating and securing a blade in an AC-type razor, but that's bound to be a challenge when a DE blade is located pushed up against stops, rather than hung on pins.

It's not clear to me whether the ECO has actually been released, and there aren't yet any reviews. I look forward to the reports with eagerness.

Thanks for the reply, a really informative insight into the other half DE blade razors there.

Italian Barber seem to give the info the Eco will be for sale at a later point this week, which I imagine is for their website only and it might take a bit longer for third party retailers to have them in stock.

By the time it gets to a UK front door, an article costing £24.81 (sterling conversion for USD 29.99) will, with shipping, VAT and Royal Mail impost, have swollen in cost to about £62.28. Magic!

The above is offset by RR actually having pretty decent overseas distribution, and I imagine a few retailers eventually will sell the ECO around the £30 mark, which is the same the RR Hawk seems to go for in the UK which has the same price on the Italian Barber website as the ECO.

It might take a bit more time for the RR Eco to reach the UK though!

I'll bide my time then.

I have a Focus Dynamic SE. I find loading is fiddly, and very hit and miss. It would be a good razor if it wasn't for this. If Razorock have fixed this it will be worth a shot.
My Razorock Hawk is a great razor, I use Schick Proline P-30s, ordering them from Japan they are reasonably priced (ironically).
The UK price for the Eco could end up being more in pounds than the dollar price at Italian barber, we'll see.
I can see the attraction of splitting DE blades, cheap, and huge choice. However the big joy with SE Blades is their stiffness. It'll be interesting to see if the Eco manages to make a DE blade behave the same.

I see that Gifts & Care are now offering what they call, slightly confusingly, the ECO Hawk, in black. The price is 39.50 euros, or about £35.
Is this the one you mean?
It's more or less the same price as the Hawk V2 on that site, No duty , no VAT from Spain (at the moment). Though if they had stock you could pick up a Hawk for £29 in this country (UK).
If I can pick up the Eco for £30 to £35 in this country I will. If nothing else it's a chance to evaluate DE blades in a different format.
