Public Telephone Boxes

Can you remember the last time you used a public telephone box?

I think, for me, it was in 1992. I don't know where my nearest one is now.

I recall they used to have a range of directories (A-Z). Some even had a mirror.

Before I had my first Motorola Graphite One 2 One mobile, I used a BT phone card so probably 1996? I used payphones in Holland a little longer with KPN phonecards. Maybe 1999 or 2000. As well as the top up phone cards, my Father gave me a family type card. It didn't store credit, you entered a long number and pass code which then charged your land line.

My nearest one that I know of is an old one like this.

It's not in use as a phone box anymore but now has shelves with books in it, a sort of free exchange library.
