Proraso (red) sandalwood

Got some of this recently to replace TOBS sandalwood and have to say I'm a bit disappointed with it. Very different take on the sandalwood fragrance which is most likely down to the shea oil and overall I think it has a backnote smell which is a bit artificial to me. Performance is good though so will persevere but still haven't found that One fragrance for an aftershave splash. Guess I'll have to keep on looking! :)

I find Tobs Sandalwood to have a very synthetic scent, with very little sandalwood notes, whereas I find the Proraso scent to be much more a ‘natural' dirty/musky sandalwood scent. Regardless of scent, Proraso Red aftershave is one of my favourites. I find that it has great skin repairing/replenishing qualities, which is on a par as with products such as Speick. Great stuff imo.

I woud agree with that, having said that, my first impression of Proraao (red) wasn't positive. I use the Proraso sandalwood aftershave with other sandalwood shaving soaps, for scent it's one of my favourites. The only negative is that it doesn't linger long enough for me.... I'm spoiled with some PAA aftershave that linger for many hours.

Some people love the TOBS sandalwood... I used to love it too.

I'd agree with the TOBS comment too although some days seemed worse than others. Maybe I'll come to love proraso red, who knows but meantime I can continue the search. No great hardship there lol

I've continued to use the red and definitely great on the skincare side. Scent wise... I'm more used to it and starting to appreciate the notes a bit more perhaps. It's still more of a shea smell than sandalwood to me and almost like parma violet sweets and won;t be my 'go to' splash but happy to use the bottle up
