Cream toast, which my wife learned to make in the Midwest U.S., for breakfast today. Toast and a sweet cream gravy in which to dip it. Butter, flour, milk, sugar, and vanilla. I'm sure people have been eating variants of this for hundreds of years.
Just as in any country, you have to go to the right restaurants as we know not all are great.Even though I lived in Texas for 10 years I never did get my mind, let alone pallet, around biscuits and gravy, grits and anything or chicken fried steak. The white gravy reminds me of wallpaper paste, in looks and in taste.
