Posting photos directly into a post

Can someone provide a step by step guide for an idiot like me to post a decent size photo directly into a post? I do it on a couple of other forums but it doesn't work the same way for me here.

+1 idiot here. What I'd like to know is if it's possible to post multiple images directly in a single post (as in,say, antdad's tutorials) or whether I have to have a picasa or similar account. In which case I probably can't be bothered.

I'm showing off now! Just keep posting your IMG code into the reply box.

Nicely done Fido: could you please expand a little on that. What I might want to do would be to upload directly from my machine, rather than provide code linking to a service like photobucket or whatever: is this what you've done? And if so, how? Thanks.

Andy, as far as I am aware the only way to avoid using the likes of Photobucket (which I used for my tests) is to treat your photo as an attachment. That means you directly upload from your computer files -subject to the pixel limits. And this limits the size of the photo on screen.

Inserting photos directly into your post requires the codes generated by Photobucket type services. Then you can use photos that will be much larger and more pleasing on the eye.

No doubt our colleagues will suggest other options if there are any.
