Pinaud Clubman Soap

Not sure what happened today with this soap, but, things didn't go right with this shave.
Not even sure how best to lather it, I did take a small chunk out and lathered it in a bowl.
In the past I've just lathered from the puck.
Tried 2 passes without a Pre-Shave, and it wasn't good. On the 3rd pass I used Nuage shave oil, and that wasn't all that good, either.
Oh, the blade I used was the Timor blade in the DE89.
So,
Anyone else got an opinion on this Pinaud Clubman Soap?
Didn't think it was all that slick as well

Superdrug are also selling single bars of Pears soap at £1:99, The shop next door sells a pack of four for same price, I have never paid more than 79p and told the Superdrug manager I think their pricing is wrong or it has been wrongly printed... I have been in three times so far and it is still £1:99 a bar.

I've used Clubman soap for a while. I put a piece in a bowl, and lather with a boar brush. Always get a nice, thick lather.
As far as slickness, I can't comment. I always use a pre shave oil. So slickness is not an issue.
If you don't mind me asking, what kind of brush did you use?
