Pinaud Clubman Shaving Soap & Oil

I bought a tub of the soap and gave it a quick palm lather.

Seems like a decent performer but it's another soap I react unfavourably with.
React unfavourably in what way? if you don't mind. I tried this soap yesterday and I came out pretty rosie cheeked.
Never happened before and I've used dozens of shave soaps. I wasn't sure it was the soap but you got me thinking

I seem to have a 50/50 chance of trying a new soap and reacting unfavourably to it and now it's got to a point where I won't even try the soap on my face. I loaded the soap and palm lathered with my brush and within shortly there was some burn.

Any guesses to which ingredients? I read the Clubman ingredients and the list looks like the periodic table

Plymouth Superdrug had no oil but 8 of the shave soaps advertised as 69p. I briefly thought about clearing the shelf in a moment of greed but settled on 4 as I already have one of these in rotation.

Can one ever truly have enough soaps?

Nice find !
Seems to be a lottery as to which stores are selling the soap for 69p
I'll look in stores in the East Midlands now I'm back home from the West Country

I finally found the oil for 79p in Lymington so bought 2.
I've never really used oil though so have a couple of questions... Do you use it on it's own or prior to lathering? and how much do you use per shave?
