PC Gaming

There's a PC flight simulator that I would like to play but my PC was bought around 3 years ago for the 'usual' internet and e mail use. How can I find out if my PC has enough running spec to play this simulator?

The specs don't look too bad......However the display adapter is an Intel HD 4000. If this is a 'video graphic card' as I believe that it is.....then it won't be good enough to play any of the more modern high res games.

No....don't think it will be worth it getting a dedicated video card as the processor is only 1.8 gig and the operating system is Windows 8.1. Back to Ace Combat/Over g fighters on Xbox 360!

I used to game a bit before moving in with SWMBO. I occasionally game nowadays with focus on FPS such as Blacklight Retribution (free to play, multiplayer online) which now isn't as good as it used to be. I've played a bit of BF4's campaign mode and have enjoyed driving/racing games a little.

Blacklight was my fancy until the recent 'updates'. Younger bro wants me to play Civilisation 5 with him.

Specs - i-4790k, 980ti, kraken x61, 8gb Hyper-X 1833mhz, 500Gb samsung 840 evo ssd, NZXT h440 black case, MSI Krait edition z97.

Might be worthwhile looking into the cheaper side of graphics cards - Nvidia 970 will be a good price-to-performance ratio after the release of the new graphics cards. Will be independent of the processor so no need to worry there and win8.1 shouldn't have much of an impact either! You should be able to find a few around second hand for not a vast sum.
Edit: if ever you upgrade your system you can just slot that into the new case as well. Graphics cards last a long while :)

This might be useful:List of games playable on the HD4000

Though it's an Intel "popular games that play great at 30 frames per second or higher" puff piece list so...
Equally RAM can be more important than CPU on some games.
Thanks Count. That's an impressive list but the games have been tested/played on Windows 7 Operating system....mine has 8.1....would the games be compatible for Win 8.1?

Build yourself a new gaming rig. Plenty of videos on you tube and for 4 or 5 hundred quid you can get a decent little set up. Easily play bf1 and things like counterstrike at 60 fps. Maybe won't be ultra graphics but easily run high. With the new graphics cards being released the older generation are becoming a lot cheaper. New motherboard, 16gb ddr3 ram and an i7 chip. Easily under the 500 quid mark.

To chime in, yes. The base of the operating system is nearly the same. Win8 basically has a bit more 'waffle' in the menu tab etc. and updates for security.

New gaming rig is a good idea, depending on what yours is and how often you seek to play games. If you're fine not using a computer to game, maybe dismiss the idea but for half a G you can do something pretty decent. I just built my younger bro one. Relatively cheap but fast as lightning - an SSD is worth it's weight in gold in my opinion, helps make everything 'feel' premium when using it. iTunes opens in a flash, accessing files is a doddle etc.
