Closed Pass Around: Supply Provision Single Edge - CLOSED

First shave with the Supply Provision Single Edge.

Many thanks to @Blademonkey and @riverrun for giving me the opportunity to give this razor a go.

Bowl lathered some MWF and used the Personna blade.

I shaved with another pass around razor yesterday, a Schick Injector Adjustable, so the comparison is interesting.
First things first, I do like the way it looks and feels. Far heavier than the schick of course, but it felt reassuringly solid in my hand.
I found the correct shaving angle very easily, but just as with the Schick, for some reason I had to concentrate quite hard to maintain the angle when shaving across the grain. But three very comfortable passes, although I didn't find the Supply Provision quite as manoeuvrable as the Schick, probably because of its weight. I did find that I had to work a little harder on pick ups on my usual troublesome areas, but the result was a very close shave. 30 minutes later and no sign at all of any irritation, and my face feels great! Initial thoughts are that I like the razor, and it performed well. But I found using the Schick a little more fun for some reason. Maybe because I had an image of Roger Moore using one in the bath stuck in my head. It may also be that I am used to razors with a similar weight to the Schick after years of cartridge shaving. So perhaps the Supply will grow on me after a couple more shaves.
Once again, thanks to the guys for giving me this opportunity.

Second shave.

Face lathered some RazoRock Italian Barber. Personna blade (2).

Another very comfortable 3 pass shave with the Supply Provision. I decided to stick with the classic plate and the result was a nice close shave. I could probably have achieved BBS with a little more work on the pick ups. But people were banging on the bathroom door! I find this razor very user friendly, and the blade seems fine. No tugging and irritation free. But I can't say that I prefer it to a shave using a DE. I'm still relatively new to traditional shaving, and I may well add a SE razor to my arsenal at some point. I'm not sure whether that would be a Supply Provision though.

Third shave.

Face lathered the RazoRock Italian Barber soap again. Personna blade (3).

I continued with the classic plate as I actually find this razor quite aggressive against the grain, and I didn't want to up the aggression. It would be a little fiddly to change plates mid-shave. Once again, a comfortable, close shave with the Supply Provision SE. But I think that three shaves is enough to tell me that I won't be purchasing one, even though I enjoyed the experience. I'm only so so with the look of the razor, and although I was comfortable with its weight, my other razors feel more 'natural' in my hand.
Thanks once again to @Blademonkey and @riverrun for giving me the opportunity to try the Supply Provision Single Edge.
If @shevsky would kindly message me with an address I will post the razor on.
Cheers
Barry

The razor arrived this morning, thanks Barry for fast turnaround and now my first impressions as my first shave with it is behind me.
I'm old and bald bearded dude so I only shave my head and was really excited to try the Supply razor. My previous experience with SE is only GEM Featherweight (I love it).

The look: Great machining, great design, great finish but too heavy for me.

The shave: For tonight I picked my tried and tested set-up, P&B Citra Royale, RazoRock Plissoft 24mm Barber Handle Synthetic brush and Speick Lotion. I decided to use plate nr 2 and inserted Persona blade with no problems.
I have to mention I shave every night with 1 ATG pass and touch-ups.

It was not a nice shave. I've spent a couple of minutes trying to find the right angle but failed, the razor tugged like hell and was not cutting like I expected. For the sake of it I went for WTG pass to see it there is any difference but results were poor again. I replace the plate from 2 to 3 to make the razor more aggressive but again, tugging and pulling. I stopped and wondered what is happening here…
I re-lathered my head and tried my daily DE razor black handled Super Speed-nice smooth pass on one side of my head.
I decided to use Featherweight with GEM blade (5th shave) on the other side of my head, again, great shave (better than SS). For touch-ups, I gave the Supply another chance. The Same poor result with irritation at the back. Finished with the GEM, very good.

Is it the weight? Is it a blade? My technique? Are there any head shavers here using this razor?
I am not giving up, I will try again tomorrow with the same Persona blade and if that fails again I will replace it with “Schick” blade.
Many thanks to people who organised this event!

Last chance, gentlemen!

Head shave no 2 with the Supply Provision razor.
Same prep as yesterday, shaving soap for today is my beloved Wickham's Magnum. Head lather with Razorock Plissoft 24mm.
I started with Personna blade from yesterday, dull and not shaving, very audible but not working at all.
I replaced the blade from Personna to Schick. Schick's cartridge is rubbish, blade stuck on top of Personna's but thankfully there is a screw! Very nice and useful feature.
Blade replaced, first stroke, then another. WOW. Smooth, quiet as a mouse but this blade is taking no hair as a hostage. I stopped there for a second intrigued how this dramatic difference is even possible.
After my first pass AGT there was nothing left to be shaved but there was still plenty of lather left so I did another pass than washed my beard with the leftovers.
One of the closest and smoothest shaves I have ever had I must say. I think I could use this razor (with Schick blades) every day. The weight is the only thing that get me thinking…I would love to try alu version with Ever-Ready G-Bar style handle.
Aftershave for tonight is DIY mentholated Tom Ford Tuscan Leather lotion, I smell like 5000 quid leather sofa and love it!
I must say I am impressed.

Remarkable!

Remarkable it is! In case I did something wrong before, I gave the Personna blade another chance. It failed again.
Inserted Schick (3rd shave), lathered some OSP Neroli and I must say I had one of the best head shaves ever!
This was my first use of OSP soap but I am very impressed with both the scent and properties, very creamy protective and slick lather and The Supply pairs extremely well with it. The weight of the razor is not a problem anymore. It is heavy but there's method in this madness. I limited myself on how much I spend on shaving gear and this razor is above my budget but who knows, there are people who like me I hope and they know when my birthday is ;)

There have been one or two knocking around on the For Sale thread recently. You might get a bargain!

The pass around is now closed.
Thanks to everyone for looking after the razor and posting their thoughts.
@shevsky - Paul will send you his address. Please return the razor to him when you're done.
Thank you very much Paul @Blademonkey for making this pass around possible. I certainly enjoyed using the Single Edge.

Thanks so much for making it available for the pass around Paul.
It was my pleasure, I have put my name down for a few pass-Arounds so only thought it fair that I gave a little back and I hope that everyone who used it got something out of it even if it was just the oppertunity to try something different to their normal razors. :)
