Parker 91R As A Rotational or Daily DE.

I currently use a Merkur 34C HD, which I love, I also have my sights set on an Edwin Jagger 89L as a rotaional tool. EJ considered, someone has recommended a Parker 91R as a decent travel or even more of a daily razor...not for its weight but for its low cost / loss value. Seemingly its a long handled version of the 34C, I say seemingly with caution.

Anyone tell me if its worth having; some reviews love it, some hate it.

Help and advice, appreciated.

Weight?
Grip?
Aggressiveness?
Build quality?

Confused? I am!

Given my experience of Parker razors is limited to a sample size of two 90R (one mine, one my pals), this may not be representative.

Flimsy, lacking in QA, one is highly asymmetric.

In my opinion you'd be better off buying a Feather Portable (Pauldog here/The Shave Den sells them for about $10 shipped) or a vintage Gillette (like a Tech - which are common as muck, well made and generally cheap as chips - literally £2 top end)

Thanks for the advice...you're not the first to cast doubts on the Parker, hence my call for assistance. (Thanks to Arrowhead too, I'm impressed at the willingness to share!)

All talk of the Tech is appeciated but where can I get one?

Best wishes from Sparta.

House clearance shops, Car Boot Sales, some charity shops (some say razors are unhygenic, yet sell hairbrushes, cutlery, etc), someone here might have a spare, eBay,...

I am, sir, in your debt...Tynemouth Station this weekend it is then!

Seriously though, if anyone has a spare or comes across one please get in touch. Thats the beuty of a shaving hobby; acquiring, trying and reviewing new kit. Glad I'm not into golf or fly-fishing though...

Good luck - the Sunday one at Tynemouth never produced a bean for me - you may be better advised to try the one at Tranwell or Hexham or Corbridge (no idea if they still happen or not) - certainly more "agricultural" ones have worked better for me. Open up any travel bags you see, often there'll be a razor lurking in there too...

Hi,
I know there is a lot of difference of opinion on parkers (and everything to do with shaving!) but i have a 91R and would really recommend them. The initial feel does not have the same ring of quality as a merkur or vintage gillette, it is true but the one i have at least is actually well put together and i have managed some very comfortable close nick free shaves with them. I find them quite nimble and easy to use. My view is get one for part of the rotation; nice razor.
