palmolive stick DISCONTINUED !!!!

Well, it's not the end of the World as we know it and let us be intellectually honest here in acknowledging that while it is a fine soap there are countless entry level artisans making soap at least as good and many better nowadays. Life goes on.
i would rather pay 50p for a fine, widely available soap than £20 + for some gloryfied melt& pour... faking exclusivity, thats only available online , thus sealing the death nell of my local high st & furthering the grip of online sales giant corporations ,, but then i,m just a simple yorkshire lad

There are other soaps I can use in it's place but it's a soap that I have a lot of enthusiasm towards not just because it is a superb soap at any price, but it was the first one I ever used alongside a Wilkinson Sword brush.

I'm sure I'm not the only person who's introduction into wet shaving was formed around such a combination, it'll be a shame that future wet shavers will not have that at their availability but things go on, I'm sure future wet shavers are more likely to buy their selections for their first steps into wet shaving online so will have a much wider choice of items.

As for other cheap soaps, there are quite a few that can be bought online which are a little more expensive in comparison but are still solid performers nonetheless including Arko, and if you're buying bulk Vitos Green & Red are just over £10 for a kilo brick of soap.

I'm sorry to hear that Palmolive stick is discontinued, it is another blow to the traditional, old-school shaving, also it was a good performing quality product at a very reasonable price. This raises the question of; What about Wilkinson Sword stick and Speick stick? Their looks and performances are similar, I hope at least they won't axe the other two

Palmolive isn't being discontinued but it's not going to directly imported to the UK. I presume it is still being manufactured in Germany, and I imagine third party retailers may import it at sometime (eg Connaught). As for Speick and the WS stick, I have no idea if they will be axed or not. I hope not, they are both superb soaps!

Yep, it's just not going to the wide retail channel in the UK by the look of it. In the same way high street shops in Europe hardly stock MWF which is a fiver in Jon Lewis. Shame as it is a product with a small environmental footprint.

Saying that WilkiSword blue bowl of death is now in a manly black container, not sure if they made it better or not.

Just been for a beer run at my local asda, no palmolive stick or Wilkinson brush on the shaving shelf. :cry:They have started stocking brut aftershave now, so silver linings and all that :)

From local Wilkinson I bought two Palmolive sticks and then popped in to Superdrug to buy a tube of Ingram's but there wasn't any so it is gone for good by the looks of it, but I noticed that they are selling Pinaud's shaving and beard stuff

This went around a few years ago so I picked up 10 sticks from local Tesco's. That report was baseless, but it seems this latest obituary has more substance. A very sad loss if it is true. A real bargain - cheap and a great performer. If you've never used one, get some in now.

I have a few sticks and due to this thread I used one yesterday as I had forgotten how good it really shaves. The scent is generic industrial and for those seeking a perfect post shave feel look elsewhere, however for latherability & pure performance it runs with the best artisan soap. ;)

I know I'm really late to this party but after reading this thread thought I would try one for the first time for my daily headshave . Very impressed, why had i never tried these before?!! Off to Superdrug to buy the last few they have in stock later!

Today at my local chemist showing the general demise of the green stick in the UK. This shelf had the sticks for at least 30 years but no more.

I picked up an Ingram tube and left the rest for other to enjoy.
