OSP Chambre soap

I got a sample of this soap with the OSP Black Friday deal.

I'm very glad I didn't have to package the samples in zip lock bags as it was a nightmare to get out never mind in!

I smeared the sample in the bottom of my scuttle with ease as it's a very soft soap.

I've been using a number of OSP's tallow formula soaps for ages now but hadn't tried the vegan d'Ardenne, Short & Bell ones.

I used a 28mm Yaqi tuxedo brush to lather that I'd let drain, given a squeeze and flicked so it was pretty dry. I loaded up for about 20 seconds and got masses of soap on the brush (looking afterwards probably about a third of the sample) It took a bit of effort to initially paste it on my face as there was so little water in the brush.

I used my fingertips to add water to the brush and build up the lather in my face. I did this several times and, although it took a bit of time, got a superb thick glistening lather.

The scent of the raw soap is quite subtle which grows a little on lathering. I don't pretend to have a perfumer's nose but it comes across as a light, clean very pleasant fragrance.

I shaved with my trusty Rockwell 6S (2 plate) and a NOS Personna Super Platinum Chrome that I've been using for about a week? (I usually get at least 20 shaves out of these blades)

A superb 3 pass shave with no irritation and lovely post shave feel. I expected the vegan base not to be as protective as OSP's tallow soap but was proved very wrong.

I'm looking forward to trying the other two d'Ardenne, Short & Bell soaps on the deal.

Just to let you know that I'm discontinuing the vegan base. I am releasing chambre in February on the tallow base.

I'm always trying to improve my soap, so the base may get tweaked a little soon.

Thanks for the review.
